POWELL, Ohio — Executive Chef Ntuthuko “Tutu” Mkize of StoryPoint Powell South — and sister community, StoryPoint Powell North — earned a bronze medal at the 10th Annual Roland E. Schaeffer Culinary Classic, the largest American Culinary Federation (ACF) culinary competition in the country.
Chef Tutu competed in the Contemporary Hot Food category alongside culinary professionals and students from hotels, resorts, clubs, and private restaurants nationwide. StoryPoint Group was the only senior living organization represented at the national competition. More than 150 culinary professionals and students competed in the national event, where chefs were judged on creativity, execution, flavor, presentation, and technical skill.
In the competition, chefs had to prepare and plate 4 portions of a fully developed signature dish in one hour, followed by 15 minutes to serve. Chef Tutu competed with a dish that showcased the creativity, technical skill, and passion he brings to the community’s dining experience every day.
For StoryPoint Powell South, Chef Tutu’s accomplishment reflects the creativity, skill, and dedication that go into the community’s dining experience. Participation in competitions like the Culinary Classic highlights the StoryPoint Group commitment to culinary excellence, professional growth, and bringing fresh inspiration back to residents’ tables.
