Pick Police Reports July 9-15, 2023

July 9

10:34 a.m. A 56-year-old Pickerington woman reported that someone had taken out loans in her name.

July 10

3:02 p.m. A 41-year-old Obetz man allegedly stole a Kitchen Aid mixer valued at $442.97 and two Bic lighters from Kroger on Hill Road.

11:28 p.m. Kemba Financial Credit Union reported that a woman had used a stolen debit card to withdraw $350.

12:14 p.m. A 37-year-old Reynoldsburg man allegedly attempted to cash a stolen check at Fairfield National Bank. The check had originally been written for $72.00 but had been washed and rewritten for $2,250.

7:36 p.m. While her mother was out, a 15-year-old girl invited friends to her house in the Meadows neighborhood. At one point a 14-year-old boy allegedly took her phone. When a 17-year-old boy tried to recover the phone, the younger boy began hitting him. A 15-year-old boy also started hitting the 17-year-old.

The girl told the two aggressors to leave and as they did, they began yelling at the girl’s neighbor. When the police arrived, the 14-year-old boy called to tell the 17-year-old to come to Circle K to finish the fight. The boy threatened that he would shoot up the girl’s home if the older boy did not show at Circle K.

July 11

1:24 a.m. A 48-year-old Reynoldsburg man was arrested on a warrant out of Lancaster after a traffic stop at the corner of Hill and Tussing Roads.

  

 

11:38 a.m. A man in a mask allegedly robbed Heartland Bank.

3:03 p.m. A 52-year-old Pickerington woman told police that a check she had mailed from the Pickerington post office in February had been stolen.

5:29 p.m. A 23-year-old Columbus man was pulled over at the corner of Hill Road and Brookside Drive for allegedly driving 49 mph in a 35-mph zone. He was also driving without a license.

5:53 p.m. Two Reynoldsburg men (ages 58 and 42) were charged with trespassing after they were caught fishing in the Coyote Run Nature Preserve with a casting net.

8:24 p.m. A woman reported that her 9 mm pistol was stolen from her vehicle in Colony Park.

July 13

2:25 p.m. A woman allegedly stole Amazon packages from the porch of a home in the Sycamore Creek neighborhood.

5:59 p.m. Police responded to a report that a 45-year-old Powell man had allegedly overdosed in the second-floor hallway of Comfort Inn. Violet Township medics administered several doses of Narcan, and the man began to breathe.

July 14

12:48 p.m. A 63-year-old Violet Township man reported that checks he had mailed from the Pickerington post office had been stolen and that one had been washed and rewritten for $2,000.

9:00 p.m. A group of teenage girls from Pickerington and Columbus allegedly got into a fight in the parking lot outside Picktown Palooza.

July 15

2:56 a.m. A 30-year-old Pickerington man allegedly drove past a stop sign without braking and almost hit a police cruiser. When the officer pulled the driver over for the violation, the man said that he had “had a couple of drinks”. The officer then noticed the smell of alcohol. The man’s blood alcohol content measured .18, the legal limit in Ohio is .08.

11:57 p.m. A resident in the Homestead neighborhood reported that a strange couple were calling for help from her driveway. Her boyfriend went outside to assist. A woman, who was laying on the pavement screaming, allegedly told him to “get away!” When the police arrived, they identified the strangers as a married couple in their forties who live near Gender Road.
