Bob’s Backyard BBQ Joins Meals on Wheels

The Senior Hub-Meals on Wheels Fairfield County Opens Restaurant Site in Pickerington.

The Senior Hub-Meals on Wheels Fairfield County is proud to announce the addition of a second restaurant program to serve older adults living in Fairfield County. Beginning April 10, older adults will be offered the opportunity to receive a daily meal at Bob’s Backyard BBQ located at 80 West Church Street in Pickerington between the hours of 11 am and 2 pm Monday-Friday. The restaurant site will offer a daily menu which has been approved by a registered dietitian and prepared by the restaurant.

The Senior Hub-Meals on Wheels Fairfield County currently offers a program at Farmhouse Cafe (201 W. Market Street) in Baltimore, a church-based meal program in Amanda, and seven community meal sites in the Lancaster area to provide for the socialization and nutritional needs of older adults. The new Pickerington location will bring the total number of community meal sites to ten. 

“Participants should visit one a day, not both,” stated Anna Tobin, Executive Director of The Senior Hub-Meals on Wheels Fairfield County. “Generally, individuals sign up to eat at one of the locations or the other.”

This is a donation-based program. Donations are welcomed and appreciated. However, Meals on Wheels will not turn anyone away who does not make a donation.

   

“We are delighted to partner with the Bob’s Backyard BBQ to offer community dining for seniors in the Pickerington area” stated Tobin. “Bob and Maggie Bennett, the owners of the restaurant, have been very welcoming of the program and we look forward to working closely with them to provide a means for older adults to receive a nutritious meal and a chance to socialize with others.”
