Sixty-three students in the Eastland Career Center BPA chapter were recognized on stage for their performance at the organization’s regional competition, including 16 individual event champions and one team champion.

The results are in! Thirty students from Eastland Career Center will compete at the 2024 Business Professionals of America Ohio State Leadership Conference.
Twenty of those students earned first-place honors in their respective events during the regional competition held in January.
Eastland Career Center was well-represented after a total of 63 students were recognized on stage for their finishes during the Region 14 Business Professionals of America (BPA) competition, which was held in late January. Of those students, 16 won their individual event and two teams also took top honors in their respective events.
Senior Kyla Saunders (Amanda Clearcreek) took first place in multiple events, including Payroll Accounting and Medical Coding. She has chosen to compete at States in the Payroll Accounting event.
Truth Brooks (Canal Winchester), Ethan Carmichael (Canal Winchester), Jacob Caron (Hamilton Twp.), and Dayanara Channakhon (Groveport Madison) comprised the first place Computer Animation 440 team, which will represent ECC at States.
The members of the winning Administrative Support Team include Groveport Madison juniors Reagan Hodge and Mackenzie Tyrrell from the Medical Office program. Matthew Kuhn, a junior from Teays Valley studying Programming & Software Development, will round out the team that is heading to States.
In addition to the 15 individual and two first-place team finishes, there were 18 second-place finishers and 17 third-place finishers. After students selected which events they will proceed with at the next level, 31 students will represent Eastland BPA at the state leadership conference.

Students that advance to the state competition will meet on March 7 at the Hyatt Regency to vie for tops in Ohio as well as the opportunity to compete at the BPA National Leadership Conference.
Twenty-four individuals, one four-person team, and one three-person team are slated to compete at the State competition. The awards ceremony will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center the following day.
