Seating is limited for Rise Up Alliance’s remaining performances of Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street this Saturday and Sunday at the Lancaster Masonic Lodge (224 South High Street).

“Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth-century London, seeking vengeance against the judge who framed him and stole his young wife and daughter. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice,” said Judith Cosgray, the show’s producer.

This special school edition has been adapted to retain the dark wit and grand scope of the original work, however there are a few lyric and content changes to facilitate a high school production.

The actors are sixth-12th grade students from all over Fairfield County.

“The audience will enjoy the immense talent of the young performers, the hauntingly beautiful script, and the gorgeous surroundings at the Lancaster Masonic Lodge,” Cosgray said.

George and Jen Spence are co-directors, Jessica Ohler is the choreographer, and Holly Stanley and Rachel Lynch-Brooks are co-musical directors.
