December 4

3:04 pm The soccer field beside the covered bridge in Sycamore Park was damaged by a red Jeep doing doughnuts.

December 6

11:53 am Catalytic converters were allegedly stolen from three vehicles parked at A Team Transmission.

1:42 pm Police were called to Pickerington Central on reports that a freshman had posted a threat. A Snapchat group comprised of about 30 students (half from Central) allegedly had been harassing the boy and calling him “Bitch”.

Frustrated and scared, he posted a video of a school shooting with the message “Planned fights lead to school shootings”.  The boy, who had no history of aggressive behavior, stated he had no plans to harm anyone. 

After review by the police and school guidance officials, the Snapchat Post was deemed a “transient” and “not substantive”.

2:21 pm A 48-year-old Whitehall man allegedly attempted to cash forged checks at Park National Bank.

3:40 pm A Violet Township woman told police that someone stole two of her checks and had rewritten them for $1,500 and $1,357.21.

December 8

3:43 pm A 30-year-old Reynoldsburg woman was issued a “No Trespassing Order” after allegedly yelling at the pharmacy staff at the Hill Road Kroger and threatening the manager.

December 9

3:47 pm Three Columbus women and a Westerville woman, all in their early twenties, allegedly stole “a lot” of tequila from Kroger on Hill Road. One of the officers recognized the driver of their vehicle from a theft at another Pickerington store in November.

10:07 pm A stolen Kia was recovered in Longview Acres.

10:58 pm A Pickerington woman reported that a check she had dropped into the blue mailbox outside the Post Office on November 26 had been stolen. Huntington Bank informed the woman the check had been erased and rewritten for $8.700.50 to Cameron Hughett.  

December 11

1:42 am In the early hours of the morning, an officer allegedly discovered a 29-year-old Columbus man loading lumber and tools into his vehicle from a build site on Taylor Way.  The man said “Paul” had given him permission to take the unwanted materials for his remodeling company. The police contacted the development company who said that nobody had permission to remove items from the construction site.

December 12

12:33 pm Huntington Bank notified a Violet Township woman that a check from her account had been cashed for $7,200 at Sam’s Club. The woman said that particular check she had made out for a much lower amount to Columbia Gas and dropped mailed from the Post Office.

December 13

6:06 am Sometime the night before, a wallet, laptop and dress clothes were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked outside the Overlook Apartments.

December 14

12:07 pm Two Columbus men allegedly attempted to cash forged Salvation Army checks at Fairfield Federal.

11:17 pm A man said that while he was working out at Planet Fitness, someone took his keys then stole his wallet from his vehicle.

December 15

8:30 pm Someone allegedly stole $300 from a wallet inside a vehicle parked along Green Lane.

December 16

2:13 pm Speedway reported an employee allegedly stole $500.

3:05 pm Police received a report of a check having been stolen from the blue mailbox outside the Post Office. It had allegedly been washed clean then rewritten for $9,100.50.

December 17

1:33 pm A 39-year-old Pickerington woman flipped off the driver of a Thornville minivan who did not turn right onto State Route 204 from 256 immediately after the light turned green.  When the minivan turned into the parking lot toward Starbucks, the Pickerington woman also turned because it was also her destination.

Allegedly, the minivan driver exited her vehicle and began to approach the Pickerington woman’s car.  The Pickerington woman began filming with her phone. The minivan driver knocked the phone to the ground and drove away.

The Pickerington woman noted the minivan’s license plate and called the police.

The responding officer took her report, then warned, “Road rage is a real problem as of late and you just never know how the other driver or passenger is going to react to the smallest of things being honked at.”

3:00 pm A woman reported that while she was inside Jimmy John’s, someone broke her driver’s side window and stole the designer purse that she had left on the passenger seat. Her phone was in the purse.

9:42 pm While waiting to turn right onto Refugee Road from Windmiller Drive, an officer honked his horn when the hatchback in front of his cruiser began to drift backwards. The car stopped drifting, but once the light turned green, the car turned left from the right turn lane.

The officer switched on his rooftop lights then proceeded to follow the hatchback west on Refugee until the car pulled over near Stonecreek Drive.

The driver, a 45-year-old Stoutsville man, allegedly told the officer that he had no license, nor did he have vehicle registration or proof of insurance.  He said that he was leaving a Christmas party where he drank four beers.

When the white driver allegedly failed to complete a field sobriety test, he accused the black officer of racism.  He began to hurl racial slurs and to loudly proclaim, “white lives matter!”

Back at the station, he allegedly refused to take a urine test unless the officer agreed to hold the collection cup, which the officer refused to do. When a second officer attempted to place him in a detox cell, the man referred to the officer using homophobic terms and threatened to physically attack.

December 19

10:02 pm Two men (one with glasses and the other wearing a yellow puffy jacket) allegedly stole perfume from Ulta Beauty.  The store was to do an inventory to determine what was missing.  Four bottles were recovered in the parking lot.

5:31 pm A Reynoldsburg man told police that checks he placed in the blue mailbox outside the Post Office were stolen, washed and rewritten for around $9,400.

6:54 pm A check dropped into the blue mailbox outside the Post Office on December 7, was stolen, washed and rewritten from $86 to $9,000.

December 20

4:02 pm A man allegedly attempted to rob the clerk of Circle K at gunpoint then left after receiving nothing.  He was also suspected of having just robbed the BP in Canal Winchester.

4:15 pm Two females and one male stole more than $1,000 in perfume from Ulta Beauty.  All three suspects wore beanies and face masks.

7:51 pm A vehicle was broken into at the Roosters’ parking lot and a wallet stolen.

December 21

1:58 pm A catalytic converter was taken from a vehicle parked outside A Team Transmission.

6:44 pm Someone allegedly stole a lawn mower and tools from a home in the Pickerington Ponds neighborhood.

December 22

3:07 pm A 27-year-old Newark woman allegedly attempted to steal $560.91 of merchandise from Kohls.

3:59 pm A Pickerington woman reported that a check she wrote for $170 and dropped into a blue post office mailbox had been stolen. The amount of the check had been rewritten for $6,800 and the name on the check had been rewritten to someone named “Hayden Michael Boyle”.

December 23

1:47 am A 56-year-old Reynoldsburg man was arrested on alcohol charges after residents noticed him sitting in his car near the Cross Creeks condo with his vehicle lights on for 45 minutes.

7:33 pm A Kohls associate allegedly admitted to stealing more than $22,000 from the store.

December 26

4:30 pm A man allegedly told the 9-1-1 dispatcher that he had gotten into a fight with his mother and shot her twice in the head. He said that he would shoot anyone who entered the Gray Drive home. SWAT was called.

At this time no other information has been confirmed. The preliminary report mentions evacuating residents and confirmation of “long guns”. No suspects or victims listed. Incident coded as “Criminal Mischief”.

UPDATE: This is possibly a case of “Swatting”. Calling in a threat to illicit a large law enforcement response.

11:55 am A 39-year-old Columbus man allegedly tried to steal from Kohls.

5:39 pm Someone broke into multiple cars parked at the Drug Mart/Old Bag shopping commercial strip.

8:35 pm Someone broke into multiple vehicles parked behind Roosters.

December 28

3:57 pm A washed/forged check was dropped off at the Post Office.

December 29

11:23 pm Police arrested a 36-year-old Columbus man near the intersection of Hill Road and Tussing on a warrant out of Hamilton County.

3:15 pm Construction materials were allegedly stolen from the Longview Highlands development.

December 30

1:19 am A woman told police that the day before her boyfriend allegedly hit her in the head and threatened her with a box knife while they worked at Five Below.

1:27 am After he was fired from Cali Tacos for allegedly being drunk a work, a man attacked his former boss and damaged the restaurant.

12:00 pm The manager of a local business said that someone forged a check from his business’ account for $10,151.  The business had not dropped off checks to the Pickerington Post Office since October due to the reports of increased fraud.

December 31

3:58 pm A couple reported that they returned from vacation to discover that multiple pairs of shoes and watches were missing from their home in the Landing off Long Road.  Officers found no signs of forced entry.
