This weekend, travel with the Millersport Community Theatre to the land of Duloc for Shrek the Musical.

Based on the DreamWorks film, the story follows an ogre named Shrek (Brenton LeuVoy) and a talking donkey (Ryan Bernstein) as they partake in an epic quest to rescue a princess from a dragon’s keep.

“This production is our biggest endeavor yet,” said Johanna Whetstone-LeuVoy, who plays Princess Fiona. “Costumes rented from a professional company, major set pieces, crazy lighting design, huge cast age ranging from six to 66, and even large-scale puppets. This one is selling like crazy and is going to be an amazing family-friendly event.”

Lord Farquad (Ethan Mauger) orders Thelonious (Parker Young) to torture Gingy (Baylee Sheets) for information.

Director Josh Whetstone agrees.

“The production value seems to keep going up with every show,” Whetstone said. “The lighting and special effects are amazing – along with the set pieces we’ve been able to create.

It’s obviously a very kid friendly and funny – quite the departure from Jesus Christ Superstar.  So, we encourage people to bring their families and have a good time slipping into the world of Shrek and Fiona.”

Regular audience members will recognize a lot of familiar faces, but Shrek also introduces a good mix of newcomers.

“The actors in this show are absolutely incredible,” Whetstone said. “They’ve worked really hard to make this production great.”

You may purchase tickets in advance at www.mctohio.com or at the door. All tickets are $15 reserved seating, first come/first served.
