Pick. Police Reports December 10-16, 2023

December 10

4:28 pm Police were called to a home in the Reserve at Pickerington Ponds after receiving a voicemail from a man claiming to have shot and killed his father. When they arrived, the 24-year-old suspect and his father were both alive and unharmed.

The younger man told officers that he believed an online friend, “Depraved#4300”, had “swatted” him. “Swatting” is when someone contacts authorities claiming that a violent event occurred so that the police surround the intended victim. For a previous article on ‘swatting” click here.

Depraved#4300 allegedly threatened the Pickerington man after the two fought over a girl. The voicemail to the police had been created using a service that does not require identification.

December 13

9:15 am A municipal court bailiff confiscated a gun from a man living in the Meadows Apartments,

11:25 am An employee at Zapatas allegedly called a 22-year-old Columbus woman “A” to tell her that a 21-year-old Groveport woman “B” was eating at the restaurant with a friend. “A” has a history of harassing “B”, so “A” came to the restaurant with a group of friends. “A” verbally harassed “B” and temporarily blocked “B” from leaving. An employee at Zapatas filmed the altercation.

11:29 am Shell reported that someone paid with counterfeit funds.

1:33 pm The Chesta Company reported that someone had stolen two checks, washed them, then rewrote them for $2,470 and $3,424.

December 14

7:22 pm A 52-year-old woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant after her 11-year-old son called the police because he feared that she had a bad drug reaction.

  

 

December 15

8:23 am A Sig Sauer 9mm pistol with a mounted light was found in a returned vehicle at Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

December 16

12:56 am A 22-year-old Reynoldsburg man was charged with driving under a suspended license after making an illegal left turn out of Taco Bell.

1:50 am A 33-year-old Reynoldsburg woman was charged with driving under a suspended license after allegedly driving on Interstate 70 without headlights.

7:08 pm A catalytic converter was allegedly stolen from a Toyota Prius in Preston Trails.
