For the second time in three years, Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools served as host to the Governor’s Executive Workforce Board meeting. The group’s most recent meeting was held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, on the Eastland Career Center campus in Groveport where Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted were on site.

Before the Executive Workforce Board meeting, Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted took time to meet and speak with Eastland-Fairfield staff and students. DeWine and Husted took a keen interest in the paths chosen by students, who represented five different lab programs. Students represented the Welding, Pre-Engineering, Aviation, Electrical, and Robotics & Automation programs.

Less than a week removed from the announcement that Eastland-Fairfield received a $4.2 million grant to fund the construction of a new welding lab at Fairfield Career Center, Superintendent/CEO Shelley Groves took time to show the legislatures the first draft of the construction plan for that project. Groves highlighted the location of the lab as well as what future facility and programming goals can be accomplished because of the generous gift.
