On October 16, 2021, Pickerington Main Library is hosting its fifth FREE Comic Fest. Comic Fest is a day of vendor art displays, cosplay, and community-building. Comic Fest is a family-friendly event. There are planned superhero activities so this is the day to break out the cape! Don’t miss out; the fun runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“We offer the opportunity to experience a scaled down version of a comic con event without the high price tag.” Said Colleen Bauman, community engagement manager. “Our event will feature talented local comic and graphic novel artists, visits with your favorite characters, activities, food trucks and much more!”

The event will also feature FREE comic books, courtesy of Diamond Comic Distributors, as well as chances to win graphic novel prizes provided by Penguin Random House. Star Wars fans will find some fun in our youth services department with a make your own droid craft and a visit with some of their favorite characters, including a replica R2-D2 made by Dr. Joshua Montgomery, Professor of Computer Science from Southern State University.

Our Information and Research Services department will host graphic novel button making and the chance to make your own superhero mask. You can don your mask and hang out with Spiderman or Wonder Woman, or test your superhero skills with one of the obstacle courses outside! If you want to sit and take a break, check out the superhero movie marathon in our DVD area or get a bite to eat at the food trucks in our front driveway.

The main feature of the event will be our creator tables in the library atrium. We’ll be featuring local graphic novel creators, who will be showing off and selling their work. Artists will include Alex Clark, Michael Fehskens, Molly Durst, Anna Vigorito, and Joseph Pruitt. Stop by and discover something new from someone local!
