On the Go Fund Me page for the family of James “JP” Palmer III, the 21-year old is described as “a hard-working son, nephew, grandson and friend” and that his loss has left his family “heartbroken and in a state of disbelief”.
On January 2 at approximately 8 pm, Palmer was shot in the head while driving westbound on Meadows Boulevard. Pickerington police found him sitting behind the wheel of a white, 2014 Chevy Impala near the area of Meadows and Hill Road. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
The police have asked residents “if you live in the area and have any kind of a doorbell camera or exterior security camera, we respectfully request you check any video you may have. If you have something that may be helpful, please contact the Pickerington Police Department at (614) 575-6911.”

However, the department did state that no charges have been filed and that “there is no reason to believe that other residents of Pickerington are or have been in danger in relation to this incident.”
A funeral service for Palmer was held January 18th at the J. F. Goode Funeral Home in Amityville, NY followed by his burial at Pinelawn Cemetery in Wyandanch, NY.
“Those that knew JP know what an amazing spirit he had and for that to have been cut so short… We will forever mourn his loss,” his family stated.
