There is no question about it; having a child can be very expensive. According to Bottoms Up Diaper Bank, “One in two families struggle to buy diapers for their family” due to skyrocketing diaper prices.
However, Bottoms Up Diaper Bank is here to help struggling single mothers get diapers for their babies. Bottoms Up is organizing three events in three cities to kickoff the World’s Largest Diaper Drive in May. Bottoms Up aims to collect 1 million donated diapers.
On February 27 in Chillicothe, Bottoms Up President Jo Welsh held the first of three diaper drives being hosted in the central Ohio area.
Bottoms Up is hosting a second drive in Columbus at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral (555 North High Street) on February 29 at 6:00 pm. To RSVP for this event, send Jo Welsh a message at rsvp_columbus@bottomsup.life.
Need something closer to home? Bottoms Up has you covered! The final diaper drive in the series is being held in Lancaster at 6:00 pm on March 5 at Connexion West (625 Garfield Avenue). So who is Bottoms Up exactly? Bottoms Up is a non-profit organization designed to give struggling families clean diapers.
Founders Tim and Jo Welsh have started Bottoms Up through faith, love, and a desire to help their community.
“We have gone from distributing a few thousand diapers a month to over 60,000 a month.” Jo said.
Bottoms Up has delivered more than 4 million diapers to over 60 food pantries and childcare facilities in 21 Ohio Counties.
“We are humbled by the outpouring of support for our mission to help moms and babies with a basic need.” Jo said. “We knew we had to act when we learned that some moms are forced to leave a diaper on a baby for 24 hours because they cannot afford sufficient diapers.”
