Hurry, this weekend is the last chance to catch Pickerington Community Theatre (PCT)’s production of Junie B. Jones, the Musical Jr.

Junie B. Jones the Musical Jr. is adapted from Barbara Park’s beloved children’s books. The audience follows Junie B. as she begins the new adventure of first grade. But- oh no! Junie B.’s bestest friend from kindergarten has her own NEW best friends. How will Junie B. handle this and other first grade catastrophes?

Out of the more than 60 actors who auditioned, 32 were selected. Including PCT alumni Lina Bachmann (Junie B.), Jude Meier (Herb), and Nora West (Lucille). There kids ranging in age from seven to 17.

PCT has also welcomed high schooler, Summer Graham, as assistant choreographer.

“It was our goal to create as many opportunities for local youth as possible, both onstage and off,” said director Pamela Villarreal.

Villareal believed that audiences will enjoy the show because “at the end of the day, childhood is a universal experience.”

“It may look different for each of us, but even as adults I think we can remember walking into a new classroom, the joy of a new lunchbox, and all the changes and challenges we faced along the way,” Villareal said. “For many of us, we read these books as children. Kids are still reading Barbara Park’s series today and will recognize some of their favorite adventures and characters.”

Junie B. Jones the Musical Jr. will be performed at the Violet Township Community Theater at the Wigwam Event Center, located at 10190 Blacklick-Eastern Road NW. The show dates are March15, 16, and 17 with curtain times of 8:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and a 2 pm matinees on Sunday.

The ticket prices are $19 for adults, $17 for seniors (55 and older) and children (under 12). You can buy tickets online at pickeringtoncommmunitytheatre.org or by calling (614) 508-0036. Seats are selling quickly so reserve yours soon.
