If you are looking for a fun and festive way to celebrate the holiday season, you might want to check out the world premiere of A Krampus Story presented by Mouth of the Wolf Productions (MOTWP). The show, written by Columbus playwright Emily Turner, is a heartwarming comedy that explores the legend of Krampus, the horned creature who scares naughty children on Christmas Eve.

But what if Krampus is not a horrible monster, as the legend has it all wrong?

“This show is not like the original Krampus story,” said Luke Angersbach who plays the titular character. “It’s been adapted to be kid-friendly and transformed into a holiday show.”

Director Tina Gleason agrees.

“It takes an old tale and traditions then shines a unique light on it, complete with singing, dancing and heartwarming holiday family fun,” Gleason said.

That is the premise of A Krampus Story is a delightful mix of humor, drama, and music. The cast features talented youth actors who bring the characters to life with their energy and charisma.

Kesari Bentley as Bruno, the Krampus family’s pet cat.

“This is a dedicated group of young actors,” Gleason said. “Some of them have been taking classes and performing in our shows for five years or more. Our crew is made up of hard-working, dedicated and amazing parents!  We share a common joy, the kids.”

A Krampus Story enlists the entire family at times, exposing hidden talents and creativity in a collaborative team.

Throughout her career Gleason has performed, directed, taught and worked as a theatre tech.

“This is my favorite thing,” she said. “MOTWP has incredible writers who create stories that provide bigger character opportunities for more young people. The cast has a great deal of creative freedom so as to build their instincts. I have had the honor of seeing them all grow so much. They are amazing!

It’s also pretty great that at a young age they get to use their talents to help out their community.”
