12:26 a.m. Officers assisted Violet Township firefighters to force entry into a Lake’s Edge apartment where a smoke alarm was going off.
7:59 a.m. Tractor Supply Co. reported that a zero-turn mower valued at $3,899 had been stolen.
11:02 a.m. After rear-ending another vehicle near the entrance ramp to Interstate 70, a 23-year-old Reynoldsburg man was cited for failing to maintain a safe distance and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
11:34 a.m. A 63-year-old Pickerington man reported that someone was attempting to use his identity to obtain a vehicle loan in Auburn, Massachusetts.
7:10 p.m. A 53-year-old Delaware man reported that he had accidentally left a bag containing $2,600 in cash on top of his car parked at the Pickerington Ridge Apartments.
April 14
7:20 p.m. A bicycle was reported stolen from Victory Park, but it was found a short time later.
April 15
2:30 p.m. Two juveniles were issued “No Trespass” orders from the library after previously being asked to leave.
10:49 p.m. A 15-year-old Columbus boy was cited for being at Victory Park past curfew. A parent ordered him an Uber to get home.
April 16
12:04 a.m. After a traffic stop on Hill Road near Interstate 70, a 43-year-old Zanesville man was arrested on a warrant from Perry County.
April 17
11:04 a.m. A concerned CVS employee reported that an 88-year-old woman was using large amounts of cash to purchase gift cards every day. When officers spoke with the woman, she told them that she had won a prize package from Elon Musk and Dolly Parton, but she had to cover shipping costs first by purchasing gift cards from CVS and Kroger to cover the shipping costs.
3:51 p.m. A girl on the Central track team parked her mother’s Chevrolet Blazer in the stadium lot during practice, unlocked with the keys inside. Without permission, a 15-year-old boy allegedly decided to take the car for a joyride.
Two junior high students said they were walking from Circle K when the boy pulled up and offered them a ride to the library. They knew his first name and his jersey number on the Tiger football team, so they accepted the offer.
When approaching the library entrance, the vehicle hopped the curb, striking a sign and a tree. The teen allegedly abandoned the car and the two 12-year-olds before running from the scene. Witnesses helped identify the boy, but his mother advised him not to speak to police.
5:29 p.m. The library asked police to issue a “No Trespass” order to a 14-year-old boy.
7:17 p.m. A 40-year-old man told police that he thought he was paying to rent an apartment at Turnberry, but was scammed out of more than $1,000.
April 18
3:54 a.m. At the new Sycamore Springs community, a work truck was found with all windows busted out and damage to mirrors.
6:32 p.m. After being found slumped over his steering wheel on Hill Road, a 32-year-old Columbus man was arrested and charged with possession of drugs, possession of paraphernalia, and driving while under the influence of drugs.
8:40 p.m. The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department asked Pickerington Police to help locate an impaired driver who had struck multiple vehicles parked along the street in Pickerington Hills. A 46-year-old Pickerington man was caught and cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and hit/skip.
April 19
2:35 a.m. Police attempted to stop a Honda Civic that was traveling along Interstate 70 at a high rate of speed without lights. The vehicle was able to elude officers.
11:07 a.m. After reporting that her car had been stolen, a 36-year-old Ironton woman learned it had actually been repossessed.
