In a heartwarming example of life imitating art, the four young actors/musicians that made up the titular band in Pickerington Community Theatre’s 2023 production of School of Rock have been named as finalists in an upcoming, real-life “Battle of the Bands.”

Ivan, Lina, Oliver, and William (lead guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums respectively) sang, danced,
and played their way into the hearts of Pickerington theatre goers in the fall of 2023. After the run of
the PCT’s production of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s School of Rock, the Musical wrapped, the young
musicians were inspired to stay together as a group.

Through the winter, the foursome continued to rehearse. Recently, the band – now playing under the new name “Horace Green Dropouts” which pays homage to their musical theatre roots – auditioned for Westerville’s teen Battle of the Bands and were selected as finalists!

“Pickerington Community Theatre is proud of its onstage and backstage veterans, but also proud of the way that the volunteers and members of the Board, casts, and crews have formed a true community, with friendships and partnerships formed inside and outside the theatre,” said Amanda Tuttle, PCT board member as well as the director of School of Rock.

Finalists in Westerville’s Battle of the Bands will perform on Saturday, April 20, 2 – 5pm, at the Westerville Public Library. More information on the event can be here:
