Campaign for Blood Donation

Written by Asa Mattson, Marleigh McFarland, Samantha York and Annabella Zingale

About Us: We are four high school seniors at Gahanna Lincoln who are also enrolled in the Bioscience program at the Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical School. We are all competing in the community awareness HOSA campaign. For our campaign, we are doing community awareness on the importance of blood donation. Last year, we raised over 90,000 interactions and placed 4th in the state.

Blood Drive: To help spread awareness we partnered with the American Red Cross and hosted our own blood drive on November 3rd. We were able to receive 29 whole blood products and two power red products. In total, we were able to receive a total of 31 products. Additionally, we had 14 first time donors!

Future Plans: We plan to partner with the Versiti Blood Center of Ohio and hopefully host another blood drive in early January. We are also competing with this same campaign where we will compete at regionals on January 19th and hopefully advance to the state competition.

Goals: Our largest goal at the moment is to keep spreading awareness and getting more interactions within our community. If anyone has any ideas on how to further our project and spread our message pleas reach out!

Questions: If you have any questions about our blood drive, our project, or blood donation in general please reach out to us. Our email is savelife.hosa@gmail.com. You can also follow our Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook @savelife.hosa, our DMs are always open.
