3:21 a.m. An officer on patrol in the Melrose neighborhood noticed a vehicle with multiple busted windows. Nothing was taken, and no other vehicles appeared to be damaged.
6:35 a.m. Construction equipment valued at $2,000 was reportedly stolen from a worksite off Stonecreek Drive South.
9:08 a.m. An employee of Marco’s Pizza arrived at work and discovered someone had broken through the door. Police searched the restaurant and found no suspects inside. The safe had been taken.
9:29 a.m. Staff at Circle K stopped two teenagers from leaving without paying for snacks they had stashed in their backpacks.
May 19
7:44 p.m. A resident reported receiving a call regarding an unauthorized Capital One credit card opened in her name. Police believe the call was a phishing scam.
May 20
5:50 p.m. A 27-year-old Lithopolis man told police he accidentally rear-ended another vehicle near the intersection of Hill Road and Birchwood Drive, but the other driver left the scene.
9:10 p.m. Police cited a 23-year-old Columbus man for failure to maintain an assured clear distance and driving without a license after his vehicle rear-ended another car.
May 21
3:29 a.m. Police allegedly caught three Columbus males, ages 17, 18 and 19, breaking into vehicles in the Stonebridge neighborhood. Officers transported the 18-year-old to jail on an outstanding Franklin County warrant. The others were released to their parents.
9:32 a.m. A parent told the school resource officer at Pickerington Central Junior High that a duty aide had assaulted her 13-year-old son by grabbing his arm. The boy reportedly screamed and used profanity after being told to remain seated. The officer examined the student and reported seeing no signs of injury.
12:18 p.m. A resident reported being scammed out of $7,000 by unknown suspects.
2:44 p.m. A 16-year-old boy, reportedly motivated by jealousy, allegedly spit on two girls at Pickerington High School Central before assaulting one of them. School staff separated the students.
May 22
1:02 a.m. Police cited a 30-year-old Columbus man for driving without a license following a traffic stop on Hill Road near Tussing Road.
2:45 a.m. Following a traffic stop on Hill Road near Refugee Road, police cited a 20-year-old Columbus man for driving on a temporary permit and having excessively tinted windows.
7:17 a.m. A resident reported leaving keys inside a work vehicle, which was stolen overnight. Columbus police recovered the vehicle about an hour later.
3:16 p.m. U.S. Bank alerted a 72-year-old woman that someone had attempted to transfer $20,000 from her account into one belonging to a “Shawn Brophy.”
4:36 p.m. Adult Protective Services reported that a man identified as “Donnie Aderson” attempted to access a home equity loan belonging to a 74-year-old Pickerington woman.
4:59 p.m. Police cited a 33-year-old man for failure to maintain an assured clear distance, driving under suspension and failing to reinstate his license after he rear-ended another vehicle in the Graystone neighborhood.
May 23
8:39 a.m. Two dogs were reportedly running into traffic on Old Diley Road.
9:00 a.m. Police had a vehicle towed after it sat for four days on the ramp from Interstate 70 to Hill Road North.
May 24
1:10 a.m. Police issued no-trespass orders to a 30-year-old Pataskala man and a 32-year-old Canal Winchester man following a fight at Jhapali Kitchen & Bar. Officers also charged the Canal Winchester man with felonious assault for allegedly stabbing another patron with a broken bottle.
2:17 a.m. An officer stopped a Chevrolet Equinox on Hill Road north of Interstate 70 after observing it weaving between lanes and failing to stop at a red light. The officer detected the odor of alcohol and asked the driver, a 25-year-old Pataskala man, to complete a field sobriety test. He refused both that test and the breathalyzer.
6:50 a.m. Police cited a 16-year-old boy for driving without a license and failing to maintain reasonable control after he reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel and struck multiple vehicles in the Shadow Oaks neighborhood.
7:51 a.m. A 20-year-old Pickerington woman struck a tow truck that was removing a damaged vehicle from Shadow Oaks.
11:57 a.m. After responding to an advertisement she saw on TikTok, a woman paid $350 for a Lego set. The seller, identifying himself as “Roger McClure” from “BrickBrizaar,” claimed additional fees were needed for shipping, warehouse storage and permits. The victim ultimately transferred $820 to the suspect through PayPal, Apple Pay and Chime before realizing she had been scammed.
10:34 p.m. Police arrested a 28-year-old Canal Winchester man for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and an outstanding warrant following a traffic stop on Diley Road near Cherry Hill Drive.
