The Pickerington North Panthers defeated the visiting Pickerington Central Tigers by a score of 2-0 the evening of Aug. 14, in the first annual ‘Pickerington Futbol Friday’.
The match was the first of two North vs Central Varsity Soccer matches of the evening, as the Lady Panthers would complete the sweep with a 2-0 victory of their own.
The Panthers started off rolling – putting up six shots in the first half, including a goal by sophomore Carson Ramsdale in the seventh minute as he bounced the ball over the head of Central goalkeeper Ian Mobech into the net.
During the celebration, Ramsdale kicked down the corner flag and received a yellow card. He would later return to the game.
After the early goal, the Panthers maintained possession but could not find the net again in the first half. Central managed a few fast breaks, however none of their shots in the first connected.
In the second half, a Panthers’ free kick provided Ramsdale the opportunity to double his goals. A curving shot over the wall of defenders arced into the top left corner of the Tiger net beyond Mobech’s reach.

Next Matches: Pickerington North (1-0) goes on the road, facing the Bishop Watterson Eagles (0-1) at 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 18. The Tigers (0-1) don’t take the field again until Aug. 22, when they visit the Athens Bulldogs (1-0) in an early afternoon showdown.
