10:00 am – Police received a call from Sam’s Pumpkin patch that sometime during the night, someone damaged an estimated $370.00 in pumpkins.

Sam’s issued a statement, “If anyone hears anything about what happened down here last night we would appreciate a tip.. A reward may be available if that tip leads to whomever did this. If somebody wants to come forward and make restitution before they’re caught, that might be a wise idea.

First time this has happened to us,. They specifically targeted the large expensive pumpkins only. We are watching now, and so is PPD and the Sheriff.”

October 6

3:15 pm – A fight broke out on a school bus leaving Central High School which resulted in a 16-year-old girl being transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital with a “bruised and visibly swollen” right eye.

The 16-year-old argued with a 17-year-old girl that she would have won a fight they had the previous school year if it had been just the two of them. She argued that the 17-year-old had to recruit friends to beat her.

The accusation angered the 17-year-old’s younger sister who threw a punch.  The sisters were joined by three other girls.

Video from the bus and four cell phones captured most of the fight including when the 16-year-old fell to the floor and one of the girls repeatedly stomped on her face and neck.

The bus driver returned to Central and separated the girls with the help of school staff.

October 7

7:45 am – A couple were discovered to be staying in a vacant home for rent in Windmiller Ponds.  They told police they had signed a lease for the property with a man named Riley Patel and had paid him $3,100 when they met in person.

Representatives from American Homes for Rent, which owns the property, said that no such person works for their company.

7:00 pm – Two women allegedly carried bags of stolen merchandise out of Kohls, then drove off in a White Impala with dark tinted windows and a fictitious plate. The vehicle ran a red light and evaded the police.

October 8

3:15 am – A 45-year-old man entered a home behind Kohls, then allegedly tried to hand the resident a credit card. He said, “I need to see the guy that was here to pay my debt.”

The card did not belong to him. He left and the police found him at Zettlers. He was transported to the hospital for treatment for narcotics and epilepsy.  His car was found at Fairfield Federal with the door wide open, keys on the seat and multiple pills in the door.
