Toby Sidorski is running for the Pickerington Local School District Board of Education with a focus on financial responsibility, smaller class sizes, and rebuilding trust between the board, educators, and families.

“I decided to run for the Pickerington School Board because our district is at a critical point,” Sidorski said. “We need both financial responsibility and renewed trust between the board, educators, and families. Every child deserves smaller class sizes, well-supported teachers, and schools that put students first.”

A state auditor by profession, Sidorski brings expertise in reviewing public budgets and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and transparently. He hopes to apply that background to ensure school funding goes directly into classrooms rather than administrative overhead.

Sidorski grew up in Wickliffe, a close-knit community in Northeast Ohio where his father worked as a branch manager at a bearing distribution company and his mother worked in an elementary school.

“I grew up seeing the value of hard work and being connected to the community,” he said. The oldest of three siblings, Sidorski credits his upbringing with teaching him the importance of family, education, and civic involvement.

He and his wife, Shana, have lived in Pickerington since 2014, where they are raising their four children — Ella, Brady, Roman, and Nora — all students in Pickerington Schools. The family is active in Grace Fellowship Church, school activities, and local youth sports. Sidorski coaches multiple teams and serves as an OHSAA-certified official for soccer, basketball, and baseball.

“Sports are a big part of my life, not just for fun but because they teach teamwork, respect, and perseverance,” he said. “Those are lessons that carry far beyond the field or court.”

Sidorski said what he loves most about Pickerington Schools is the people.

“Even as the district has grown, there’s still a strong sense of community and pride here,” he said. “Our teachers and families are dedicated, and that’s something really special about this district.”

If elected, Sidorski plans to focus on three priorities:

  • Reducing class sizes to give students more individual attention
  • Supporting teachers and staff with resources, training, and respect
  • Rebuilding trust and transparency between the board, educators, and community

“As a parent, auditor, and community volunteer, I bring both professional expertise and personal investment in our schools,” he said. “I’m focused on making sure resources go where they matter most — to students and teachers.”

Sidorski has been endorsed by the AFL-CIO Central Ohio Labor Council and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #9, reflecting broad support from organizations representing working families and law enforcement.

“I’m not running for myself,” he said. “I’m running to make sure our kids have the best opportunities possible, our teachers feel supported, and taxpayers can trust their dollars are being used wisely. I believe in smaller class sizes, responsible spending, and open communication — and I’m ready to bring both my professional background and my personal commitment as a parent to the board.”
