Wagnalls Memorial Library

The Wagnalls Memorial turns 100 on Memorial Day! The communities of Lithopolis, Bloom Township, and surrounding areas have enjoyed years of library services, visual and performing arts, and private and community celebrations in this architectural and historic gem.

Special activities commemorating Wagnalls’ centennial are scheduled to follow the parade and memorial service in Lithopolis on Memorial Day beginning at 11:30 am. Honorees and dignitaries will be recognized and there will be live music, visits with Ohio Falconry’s owl, a balloon artist for kids, and refreshments. The Memorial will be open for self-guided tours until 2 pm. Be sure to also visit the community groups on the Wagnalls lawn, the Friends of Wagnalls Used Book Sale, the car show and the Bloom Township Fire Department open house. Food is available throughout town.

As part of the centennial festivities, The Wagnalls Memorial is working to build its historical archives for Lithopolis, Bloom Township, and Wagnalls by collecting stories from current and past residents and patrons. The Memorial is happy to scan and return photos and other scrapbook-worthy items as well. Please see the same website to learn how to participate or call the library at 614-837-4765.

The Board of Directors also invite members of the community to join the ongoing mission of providing a library, cultural arts center, and community center through donations and sponsorships. The baton has been passed to the community from Mabel Wagnalls Jones, our benefactor, to keep this gem thriving! Information about how to give and the variety of opportunities are on wagnalls.org/page/donate or by calling Executive Director, Deb Silvia, at 614-837-4765. Centennial souvenirs are available to purchase in Library! The proceeds from the sale of these mementos support our celebration activities.
