Senator Tim Schaffer visited the future location of Harcum House this week to celebrate funds recently secured from the One Time Strategic Community Investment Fund. This crucial funding totaling $400,000 will help with the acquisition of the building, allowing Harcum House to continue its mission of serving the community and surrounding communities based on the Children’s Advocacy Center model.

Harcum House, a non-profit organization established in 2008, provides essential services to children and families affected by abuse and neglect. The new location promises to improve the quality of support and resources available to those in need.

“I am thrilled to see the impact these dollars will have on this organization,” said Senator Schaffer. “Securing this funding for Harcum House ensures that this vital organization can continue to provide indispensable services to the children and families in Fairfield County who need them most.”

The One Time Strategic Community Investment Fund, or the State Capital Budget Project, was established to support meaningful and transformational projects that foster community development and provide long-term benefits. Harcum House’s new facility project exemplifies the type of initiative the fund supports.

Cody Hatum, Executive Director at Harcum House said, “We are incredibly grateful for the support from the State Capital Budget Project and Senator Schaffer. It’s a true testament to the importance of our mission and the impact we have on the lives of children and families. The new location allows us to broaden our services and plant permanent roots in our community.”
