Rise Up Arts Alliance continues to lead audiences on a thrilling journey through Greek mythology with additional performances of The Lightning Thief Musical. At the Lancaster Masonic Lodge #57 (224 S High St, Lancaster) today until Sunday, this production will captivate theatergoers of all ages with its dynamic storytelling and infectious musical numbers.
Based on the best-selling novel by Rick Riordan, The Lightning Thief follows the adventures of Percy Jackson, a young demigod with a knack for getting into trouble. When Zeus’s lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he embarks on a quest across the United States to clear his name and prevent a war among the gods.
Under the direction of Judith Cosgray, Rise Up Arts Alliance brings Riordan’s beloved characters to life with passion and authenticity. The talented cast masterfully portrayed the diverse array of gods, monsters, and mortals encountered by Percy on his quest. From the tired and annoyed Dionysus to the menacing and manipulative Medusa, each character is brought to vivid life on stage.

As Percy Jackson, Dria Bateman (Cast A) and Allison Bininger (Cast B) capture the character’s blend of vulnerability, courage, and teenage angst with remarkable depth. His journey from reluctant hero to confident demigod resonates with audiences, who find themselves cheering every step of the way.
The ensemble cast delivers powerhouse performances that elevates every scene. Whether engaging in fierce combat with mythological monsters or belting out show-stopping musical numbers, the cast creates an atmosphere of excitement and wonder.
Of course, no production of The Lightning Thief would be complete without its unforgettable musical score. The show features a variety of tunes, from the anthemic “Good Kid” to the haunting lament “My Grand Plan,” each song deepens the emotional resonance of Percy’s journey and propels the story forward with energy and momentum.
Overall, Rise Up’s performance of The Lightning Thief is a joy to experience.
Last weekend, Cast A took the stage, while this weekend is Cast B’s time to shine.
