1:01 am Police pulled over a Ford Fusion for allegedly driving 70 mph in the 35-mph-zone of Hill Road. When asked why he was driving so fast, the 23-year-old man reportedly answered that it was his birthday. He was cited for speed, driving under the influence, failure to provide identification and driving under a suspended license.
9:43 pm A 33-year-old woman allegedly told police that she knew that her license was suspended, and her registration expired but she had to drive to Graeter’s for some ice cream then stop by the post office.
September 9
2:01 am After pulling over a Jeep Patriot on Interstate 70 for no license plate light, the officer reportedly noticed that the 40-year-old passenger was not wearing a seat belt. The man allegedly refused to give his name, citing that passengers in a traffic stop do not have to identify themselves. The officer explained that because the man was in violation of the seat belt mandate, he would have to give his name. Ends up the man was wanted on a warrant out of Perry County.
2:59 pm Kohl’s reported that on September 6 a 41-year-old man left the store with a KitchenAid mixer valued at $499.99 without paying for it.
4:00 pm The lock on a unit at Public Storage was allegedly removed and replaced with another one without consent of the facility or the renter. At the time of the report no items were confirmed to be missing.
4:51 pm A woman reported that her 15-year-old son and his sister were jumped by three teens on their way home from Circle K. The other boys allegedly tore off her son’s shirt and stole his necklace. Officers recovered the damaged necklace.
September 10
10:43 am A 64-year-old woman was walking her boxer in the Cherry Hill neighborhood, when another dog ran out of a house toward them. She reportedly fell trying to keep the dogs apart and hit her head on the sidewalk after which she could not recall much.
A witness told police that the owners of the other dog rushed to intervene and all three were bitten on the leg by the boxer.
2:12 pm Police were called to stop a fight at Pickerington High School Central.
September 11
4:10 pm A 27-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet Impala allegedly struck a 9-year-old as he was in the crosswalk leaving Sycamore Creek Elementary School. The boy suffered only minor injuries.
September 12
9:24 am A 39-year-old man told police that someone had opened a financial account in his name.
September 13
2:43 am Police arrested a 24-year-old man after he allegedly turned left out of the Taco Bell parking lot then traveled northbound on Hill Road in a southbound lane. He reportedly blew a .166 bac level. The legal limit in Ohio is .8. At the station, the man allegedly threatened to kill the arresting officer and his family.
9:30 am The city of Pickerington filed charges against a 44-year-old man living off Courtright Drive after his work truck allegedly leaked tar onto the roadway. The city invoiced the man $683.79 for the cost of the cleanup.
7:12 pm An officer pulled over a Jeep Compass after allegedly witnessing it drive 15 mph on Courtright Lane and almost hit a parked van. After a field sobriety test, the 30-year-old female driver was arrested for operating a vehicle while under the influence.
September 14
2:52 am Police pulled over a 25-year-old man on Long Road near the county line for alleged lane violations and driving without a license.
7:24 pm A 28-year-old woman wearing an ankle monitor allegedly shoplifted from Kohl’s.
September 15
2:31 am Police arrested a 51-year-old man after allegedly finding him passed in his Ford Escape on Center Street near Columbus Street.
7:48 pm A man reported that an adult man had chased his sons who were riding their minibikes on the sidewalks of the Melrose neighborhood and that the man punched his 15-year-old. A recording of the incident allegedly showed the boy almost hit the adult and that man pushed the bike to avoid being struck. Officers warned the family that motorized bicycles are not allowed on sidewalks and in the future the bikes would be confiscated.
September 16
11:37 am Two men (ages 35 and 37) allegedly refused to pull over for a traffic stop after shoplifting shoes from Kohl’s. The license plate on the Toyota Scion that they drove reportedly belonged to a Buick Regal.
12:54 pm A Hyundai Sonata stolen from Brice Road was recovered in a condominium community west of the police station on Refugee Road. The 38-year-old driver allegedly crashed the vehicle into a light pole.
1:03 pm A 28-year-old man allegedly stole men’s clothing valued at $875.00 from Kohl’s.
11:46 pm A semi-truck driver allegedly hit a utility pole near the Pickerington Food Pantry causing live wires to fall across his truck and the alley.
September 17
11:17 am A 54-year-old woman reported that an unknown person had opened a credit card using her identity.
1:15 pm A 41-year-old man allegedly took an ice cream maker (valued at $249.99) from Kohl’s without paying.
September 18
2:23 am A Toyota Rav 4 driven by a 37-year-old man allegedly struck the guardrail on Hill Road near Steak ‘n Shake and leaked fluid onto the roadway.
10:49 am A slide from a Glock pistol was allegedly found in a home in Longview Highlands. A witness reported that it may have been from one of two firearms allegedly stolen from a vehicle by two teenage boys.
12:30 pm A blue Jeep traveling southbound in the far-left lane of Hill Road, allegedly cut across both right lanes to pull into Speedway, cutting off a Toyota Tacoma. The Tacoma driver was able to brake in time to avoid a collision, but the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado behind it did not.
The 32-year-old woman driving the Jeep was wanted on a warrant from the Licking County State Highway Patrol.
5:51 pm A stolen Honda CIV was recovered from the Turnberry Apartments.
6:48 pm A Toyota Carolla driven by a 34-year-old man allegedly struck a 21-year-old bicyclist on Hill Road in front of Jet’s Pizza. The driver stopped and provided information, but the cyclist declined the man’s offer to go with him to the hospital.
3:59 pm Walking home from school, a 10-year-old boy allegedly threatened to bring a gun to Diley Middle School. Witnesses reported that the boy had earlier been arguing with a girl and that he told them that she would be his first target.
7:20 pm A semi-truck driven by a 45-year-old man allegedly stuck the back of a Honda Accord on Interstate 70 then fled the scene.
September 21
1:30 am After pulling over a Honda HR-V for not having rear lights, police arrested the 41-year-old male driver on an outstanding warrant out of Franklin County.
3:34 pm Police arrested a 31-year-old woman for allegedly shoplifting children’s clothing and toys from Kohl’s.
5:17 pm A 59-year-old woman told police that she went through trash that had been placed near the curb in Cherry Hill and found a 9 mm Smith & Wesson pistol.
