7:49 am Police were called to Sheetz on a report of a man who appeared to be under the influence. An officer allegedly found the man slumped over in a Jeep with a “large amount” of narcotics in his lap.
12:12 pm Kohl’s security reported that a 41-year-old man who was known to them as a shoplifter had taken a KitchenAid mixer valued at $449.99 from the store without paying. The suspect was seen leaving in a Chevrolet Traverse which police pulled over on Cross Creeks Boulevard near Hill Road.
Allegedly the man gave a false identity, but when an officer warned him that he could face additional charges, he provided his correct information. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Lancaster, as was a 40-year-old woman who was also a passenger in the vehicle.
September 23
11:31 am A business reported that a check for $156.50 that was mailed from one of the blue boxes outside the post office, had been stolen and rewritten to a “Nicholas Phillips” for $16,000.90.
7:49 pm A woman was arrested on a warrant out of Lancaster after an officer allegedly clocked her Honda Odyssey traveling at 35 mph in the 25-mph-zone of Hill Road near Opportunity Way. The vehicle reportedly was missing a license plate.
September 24
11:15 am A white Chevrolet Cobalt allegedly hit a white Hyundai Tucson at the corner of Tussing and Hill Roads then skipped the scene.
6:32 pm Police removed two 18-year-old men from the area of the Coyote Run Nature Preserve that some locals refer to as “Kansas”. The teens allegedly said that they did not see the multiple “No Trespassing” signs and were just photographing nature.
September 25
12:57 pm Pickerington Police received a referral from Fairfield County Adult Protective Services (FCAPS) regarding a 75-year-old woman who they believed had been scammed out of as much as $95,000. The woman allegedly met a man claiming to be “Artimus Pyle” (the former drummer of Lynard Skynyrd) and became his girlfriend although they had only ever communicated through text.
She allegedly sold her house in preparation to move to North Carolina with “Pyle”. FCAPS stated that the woman moved large amounts of money into cryptocurrency.
When an officer contacted the woman, she reportedly said that she had no problems other than a “nosy neighbor who will not mind their own business” and that she did not wish to discuss the matter with police.
September 26
8:29 am After complaints from Pickerington Hills residents about a dog frequently wandering and defecating in their yards, police confronted the owner. The 33-year-old woman allegedly told an officer that her fence needs repaired, and her dog just escapes “like they do”.
2:09 pm Police found a Nissan Rouge that had been reported stolen from Whitehall at Advanced Auto Parts. The 35-year-old man suspected of stealing the vehicle was allegedly preparing to install new windshield wipers.
September 27
8:45 am A 71-year-old man was arrested on a warrant out of Lancaster after an officer saw him stop his BMW X1 a full car length past the red-light line in front of Kroger on Hill Road.
5:23 pm A telephone pole near the corner of Long Road and Preserve Drive snapped and landed on a Honda Civic. The driver was not injured.
11:57 pm Police were called to Sheetz to remove a 39-year-old man who had been previously issued a “No Trespass” order.
September 28
12:32 am A 16-year-old boy told police that a stranger with the Instagram account @walkemdowntohellandrape.em threatened to kill him. The previous week, the boy had come across the account and had found the title “intense”, so he messaged the owner “yo step down lil bro”.
On September 28, the owner responded with “pull the f*** up b**** ass boy who r u”. The boy said he apologized but the stranger allegedly kept threatening him.
The boy called the police after the stranger sent him a photo of a Glock pistol with the message, “imma hunt yo ass down I told you I don’t play like that”.
September 29
11:25 am A Pickerington man reported that his wife’s credit card had been used for an unauthorized purchase totaling $919 from a BJs Wholesale in Marlboro, MA.
4:17 pm Someone allegedly broke the back left window of a Dodge Journey and stole a purse containing credit cards, identification and an iPhone 12.
10:17 pm A 44-year-old resident of the Knights Bridge neighborhood reported that his neighbor threatened him and told him to “f__k off”. At 3:59 am the next day, neighbors called to report that the alarm on the man’s Chevrolet Colorado had been sounding for several hours.
On September 30, the man called police again to ask why charges had not been filed against his neighbor. After being told that officers determined that nothing criminal had place, the man “became agitated and hung up.”
Moments later his neighbors called to report that the man had been driving through the grass with his truck alarm blaring. When police arrived, the man said there was a problem with the alarm, and he popped the hood to work on it.
September 30
4:02 pm Police arrested a 59-year-old man at his home in the Villas of Milnor Crossing on an outstanding warrant out of Perry County.
6:05 pm Ulta Beauty reported an unknown person in a hoodie stole hair straighteners.
October 1
1:10 am A resident of Shawnee Crossing reported that his garage door had been vandalized. He reported a similar incident involving the door in August.
5:32 pm A 15-year-old girl told police that a 15-year-old classmate in her social studies class at Pickerington High School Central threatened to spit on her and “beat up” her family. She said that when the teacher told the student to leave the classroom, he smacked her on the back of the head.
October 2
10:03 am A 52-year-old woman was cited for driving without a license after an officer allegedly clocked her Mitsubishi Lancer driving 48 mph in the 25-mph zone of Hill Road near Opportunity Way.
10:44 am Ulta Beauty reported that a 31-year-old woman had stolen $842 worth of merchandise.
October 3
2:59 am A woman told police that when she was eating her lunch in her vehicle outside Sheetz, an unknown man approached and began asking her questions including “where do you live?”, “how old are you?”, “where is there cheaper gas?”. He also allegedly said, “smile because I know you want to.”
She said that she told him to leave four times then attempted to mace him when he reached for her door handle. The spray missed him, but he did walk to a tan SUV with several other men inside. She reportedly heard one ask, “did you get anything?”.
A different man, but possibly the same vehicle, had visited the store the previous night allegedly asking for money because he was “trying to stay out of jail for murder.”
11:29 am In the Reserve at Pickerington Ponds a FedEx driver reported seeing a 28-year-old woman threaten a 54-year-old woman with a hammer then drive away in a blue Lexus.
8:08 pm Staff at Circle K called the police to have a 14-year-old girl removed from the premises. The girl was reportedly asked to leave after she began “grinding on her boyfriend” who was seated on a chair. The girl allegedly responded by threatening to “beat them up”.
When police arrived, the girl told the officer that the employees could not “just tell me to leave for no reason” to which the officer replied that businesses do have that right.
October 4
12:35 pm Two 14-year-old girls allegedly fought at Pickerington High School Central.
10:02 pm A 32-year-old man allegedly stole perfume from Kohl’s; dropping the bottles in the parking lot when spotted by police.
10:43 pm A 19-year-old man allegedly attempted to buy a six pack of Angry Orchard and a bottle of Fireball Whiskey at Speedway using a fake identification.
11:53 pm Police were called to Windmiller Ponds on report of a fight.
October 5
7:21 am A 27-year-old Violet Township resident allegedly shot at three men taking marijuana plants from his porch. One of the men reportedly suffered two bullet wounds to the area of his neck and collarbone. His companions took him to Ohio Health’s Pickerington Methodist Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.
One of the plants was allegedly tossed beside the man’s driveway and another was reportedly tossed onto the intersection of Hill Road and Columbus Street.
October 6
12:41 am Marathon Towing freed a Chevrolet Cruze that had gotten stuck facing northwest on the train tracks near the Center Street crossing. The 33-year-old driver told the police that he swerved to avoid colliding with another vehicle. No trains were scheduled at that time.
October 7
8:10 am A Jeep Liberty allegedly crossed the median on Hill Road in front of the Marcus Theatre and struck a left-turn sign. A woman driving past at the same time, reported hearing an explosion followed by debris falling upon her Ford Fusion. The 38-year-old woman driving the Jeep left the scene after showing the Fusion driver her identification.
October 8
12:16 pm A 72-year-old man reported that items had been stolen from his unit at Public Storage.
October 9
2:51 pm Police responded to a report of a “quick change” theft of $1,800 from Walgreens.
6:41 pm The owner of Limited Contracting Co. reported that someone stole a company van, a Chevrolet Express, from Pickerington Village.
7:53 pm An officer allegedly witnessed a Lincoln MKX nearly avoid a collision on Hill Road as it made an illegal left turn into the Speedway parking lot. Reportedly, instead of stopping when the officer activated his cruiser’s overhead lights, the driver continued “through the parking lot at a high rate of speed, failing to stop at a thru-way, swerving around parked vehicles, and failing to stop at the stop sign in the parking lot.”
The officer caught up with the Lincoln when it came upon traffic stopped at the Tussing Road traffic light. The 18-year-old man driving the vehicle (who did not have a license) allegedly told the officer that he had not seen the police cruiser.
10:14 pm An officer pulled over a Toyota Corolla in the Kroger parking lot for an expired registration. The 29-year-old driver had a suspended license.
October 10
2:18 pm Police allegedly pulled over a 45-year-old man in Cherry Hill for driving 45 mph in a 25-mph zone. He had a suspended license.
7:14 pm An officer pulled over a Hyundai Sonata on Refugee Road near Hill Road for an expired plate. The 22-year-old woman driving the vehicle had a suspended license.
October 11
10:33 am A resident of the Lake’s Edge Apartments told police he suspected someone had entered his home while he was away. Although he believed nothing had been taken, his lights and television had been left on and some of his clothing was laying on the closet floor.
8:51 pm A resident reported that an unknown man placed a bottle of water and cleaning wipes onto her porch then left with a package that contained an Apple watch.
October 12
11:20 am The manager of Popeye’s reported that a 16-year-old girl had just quit and was cursing at the staff. The police issued the girl a “No Trespass” order. Less than an hour later, the manager reported that the girl had called the store eight times to curse whoever answered.
1:20 pm A witness reported that two boys were riding a dirt bike through the Giant Eagle parking lot. An officer located the boys on Refugee Road. Both allegedly carried spare tires on their laps which made it difficult for the 12-year-old passenger to also hold onto the 15-year-old driver. The officer stopped him at Mr. Tire and impounded the unregistered bike.
5:30 pm Emergency crews responded to Preston Trails on a report that a seven-year-old boy with a scooter was found bleeding but conscious. Violet Township paramedics transported him to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. At the time, the first responders did not know how the boy became injured.
