Pickerington Police Oct. 27 – Nov. 2, 2024

October 27

11:12 am: Witnesses told police that a GMC Canyon allegedly ran a red light on Hill Road and struck an Acura RDX that was crossing from Birchwood Street to the Big Lots shopping center. Nobody was injured, but officers cited the 50-year-old man driving the truck for reportedly driving under the influence.

2:23 pm: Two boys (ages 16 and 17) allegedly tried to walk out of Kohl’s wearing stolen hoodies.

4:22 pm: Two girls (ages 14 and 15) allegedly shoplifted clothing valued at $411.50 from Kohl’s and then climbed into a getaway Acura driven by a 17-year-old girl.

10:02 pm: Residents of Longview Highlands reported that four men were attempting to break into cars.

October 28

11:24 am: A 35-year-old Bellefontaine man allegedly agreed to purchase sports cards from a 31-year-old Pickerington man but never paid. The Pickerington man said that he is owed $690.

7:09 pm: A 44-year-old woman allegedly stuffed $228 worth of toddler clothing into her purse and then attempted to leave Kohl’s without paying.

8:02 pm: Police removed a 30-year-old man from the Kroger on Hill Road because he was allegedly cussing out customers.

October 29

3:17 pm: Two 13-year-old boys allegedly attempted to steal cologne from Ulta Beauty.

4:19 pm: Two teenage sisters were issued “No Trespass” orders from the Pickerington Public Library’s main branch after they allegedly got into a fight with each other.

5:28 pm: KFC reported that a 26-year-old woman, who had been fired earlier in the day, was refusing to leave the restaurant. She had also allegedly entered a shoving match with another employee.

8:46 pm: After officers escorted her out of United Dairy Farmers, a 30-year-old woman allegedly punched an officer in the face and then tried to run back inside. Alcohol may have been involved.

10:54 pm: An officer on patrol at Victory Park discovered that the restroom had recently been on fire. The officer reported that unknown suspects had apparently used paper towels to start a fire in a soap dispenser, which melted. It appeared that the flames traveled into the wall, eating through a waterline and melting the ceiling vent. The walls were covered in soot.

October 30

10:08 am: A gray Ford Edge allegedly struck a red Mazda in the roundabout on Refugee Road. When police officers located the 84-year-old Ford driver, she reportedly told officers that she did not realize that her car had hit anybody.

3:12 pm: A Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 34-year-old woman allegedly hit a 12-year-old girl who was crossing Hill Road from Dairy Queen. Surveillance video reportedly showed the walk signal was activated when the Suburban turned left onto southbound Hill Road, striking the girl. The driver allegedly told police that she had not seen the girl in the crosswalk and was not sure what she had hit until she exited the vehicle. The girl was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital to be treated for a broken thumb, a bruised liver, and extreme road rash.

November 1

7:23 am: The manager of McDonald’s called the police to remove a 49-year-old woman who had allegedly refused to leave and fell asleep inside the restaurant.

7:43 pm: After pulling over a Nissan Rogue for alleged lane violations and missing a registration sticker, officers discovered that the 43-year-old driver did not have a license.

November 2

8:44 am: A resident of Wellington Park reported that his Springfield 9 mm pistol had been stolen.

6:55 pm: An unknown man called 9-1-1 claiming that he had a gun and was going to kill “Cook.” When questioned by the dispatcher, he reportedly could not provide more information other than to say that Cook was a “pig.” He allegedly said that officers would need to come to his house to retrieve the body, but he refused to provide an address. The man reportedly went on to say that if he did not find Cook, he would just kill someone else. The phone was traced to a Google Voice account from outside of Ohio.
