Pickerington Police December 1-7, 2024

December 1

12:34 am An officer pulled over a Chevrolet Silverado on Hill Road near Courtland Lane after witnessing it allegedly weaving from its lane. When asked, the 57-year-old driver reportedly admitted to drinking a couple of light beers over the course of the night. After a field sobriety test, he was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

2:23 am A 35-year-old man was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after an officer pulled him over near Twin’s Tavern for driving without headlights and a marked lanes violation. He allegedly had difficulty completing the horizontal gaze test and refused to attempt the other portions of the field sobriety test. At the police station, the man reportedly also declined the breathalyzer stating, “I have not been drinking for you (sic) enough for you guys.”

3:17 pm Police issued a “No Trespass” order to a 61-year-old woman who had come into Petland to complain that employees had come to her home. The day before, when the woman was paying for her purchases, items near the register fell. After the cashier tended to the spill and the woman left with her purchases, the cashier realized that her cell phone was missing from the counter. The phone was traced to the customer’s home. The woman reportedly told police that she must have accidentally put the phone in her purse when she put away her wallet.

7:36 pm Two men driving a dark-colored Toyota sedan allegedly broke into a work trailer on Winderly Lane near the Hampton Inn and stole equipment including a generator. The same men are suspected of stealing copper and tools from the Hampton Inn in Canal Winchester.

December 2

7:55 pm Police arrested a 46-year-old man on a felony warrant in the Meadows neighborhood.

December 4

9:36 am A woman told police that the night before, in the Rooster’s parking lot, a black Mazda 3 hit her Honda Civic then left the scene.

December 5

9:43 am Earlier in the day, an employee at Speedway accused a coworker of theft. The accused and her 38-year-old male friend visited the police station to refute the claims. After leaving the station, the friend went to Speedway. He allegedly told the clerk that he walks “in the faith of the Lord and does not like when people lie.” When she asked him to leave, he reportedly replied that he was “the Lord’s worker and he will be coming back.” She was not the employee who made accusations about the man’s friend.

December 6

9:13 am In September, a 25-year-old woman brought her critically ill puppy to Compassionate Care Animal Hospital, but the dog could not be saved. The staff at the veterinary office asked for the woman to be issued a “No Trespass” order as she allegedly kept returning to the business to deride their service as unacceptable.

8:27 pm Police pulled over a Nissan Altima for allegedly running the red light at the intersection of Hill and Refugee Roads. The vehicle had a license plate belonging to another vehicle and the 31-year-old female driver did not have a driver’s license.

December 7

6:31 pm An officer conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Malibu after it was allegedly clocked traveling at 58 mph in the 35-mph zone of Long Road. The 39-year-old woman driving the car did not have a license and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles had placed a block on the Chevy.
