When the rottweiler drew closer, the man fired a single shot from his .45 caliber Springfield XD pistol, striking the dog and a 12-pack of soft drinks. When told the reason for the traffic stop, the man allegedly replied that he had “passed three other cops and they didn’t seem to care about it.”
When asked why he had made so many turns into this neighborhood, the man reportedly first said that he was on his way home to Huntwork Gardens (this did not match his records). After the officer told the man that Pine Ridge only had one entrance/exit, the driver allegedly changed his story to say that he was on his way to visit his friend down the street.
Because the man’s license had been suspended, the officer explained that the vehicle would be towed and asked the driver, “Is there anything in the car that I should know about?” To which the man allegedly answered, “There shouldn’t be.”
The driver was placed in the patrol car to stay warm while police inventoried his car. Officers found marijuana blunts in the Kia and edibles in a backpack. The vehicle was towed.
