Pickerington Police November 17-23, 2024

November 17

2:15 am: Police reportedly clocked a Mazda CX-5 traveling 86 mph in the 40-mph zone of Refugee Road near the police station. After stopping the vehicle, an officer approached the 35-year-old driver and allegedly smelled alcohol. The man refused to take a breathalyzer test. His license had already been suspended for a prior offense of driving while intoxicated.

12:55 am: After pulling over a Ford Fusion on Hill Road near Creekside Lane for marked lanes violations and a missing headlight, police cited the 20-year-old driver and his 18-year-old female friend for underage possession of marijuana.

2:19 am: A 22-year-old woman was cited for driving with a suspended license after an officer allegedly spotted her Chevrolet Malibu traveling northbound on Hill Road without a plate light.

6:19 pm: An officer arrested a shoplifting suspect in the parking lot of Kohl’s. The 27-year-old man had allegedly concealed clothing and shoes valued at $223.25 inside his jacket. He reportedly told the officers that he was addicted to methamphetamines and that he needed to steal to get more drugs. He said that he wanted to get clean from the drugs.

November 18

1:09 am: Police pulled over a Chevrolet Impala for allegedly driving 59 mph in the 40-mph zone of Refugee Road near Stonecreek Drive South. The car was missing a headlight and also had a damaged taillight. The 20-year-old man driving the car was additionally cited for an expired registration and no license.

9:01 am: Speedway reported that third-shift staff allegedly fell for a gift card scam, costing the store $15,200.

2:03 pm: Officers arrested a 24-year-old woman for allegedly stealing clothing totaling $172.50 from Kohl’s.

3:33 pm: Police responded to Longview Highlands on reports that a 15-year-old boy was acting aggressively. He allegedly threw a landscaping brick through a car window, broke a Buddha statue on the road, and pelted neighbors with rocks.

4:28 pm: A resident reported that a Ford Mustang was parked outside her home in Fox Glen East with two unknown individuals sitting inside. When the police arrived, the vehicle began to leave, but officers conducted a traffic stop. The 23-year-old male driver was cited for driving without a license and an expired vehicle registration.

5:52 pm: Police cited a 39-year-old man for driving without a license after an officer pulled over the Mitsubishi Galant near Winderly Lane for a missing headlight.

November 19

1:31 am: Police issued a “No Trespass” order to a 53-year-old man after he was found sleeping in his Chevrolet Traverse at the Country Inn & Suites. The hotel staff had reportedly told the man previously that he could not sleep in their parking lot.

9:45 pm: Witnesses reported that an unknown man driving a dark-colored truck hit a utility pole at Center Street and Town Square Drive then continued toward Columbus Street. South Central Power arrived to tend to the downed electrical wires and the damaged pole.

November 20

9:19 am: Chase Bank notified a Pickerington woman that her credit card had been used to purchase an airline ticket from Turkey to Brazil for a person named “Dejesus Santana.”

4:48 pm: Employees at Ulta Beauty allegedly witnessed a 29-year-old woman place merchandise in her bag, then head to the checkout line. They told police that the woman did not pay for all the items that she had collected. The suspect had entered a customer loyalty number at the register, which allegedly matched the information that witnesses gathered from her license plate.

9:40 pm: Police were called to Squeek’s Bar and Grill after an employee allegedly got punched in the face by a 47-year-old man. The man had reportedly been shoving other patrons, and the employee was pushing him out of the bar because he refused to leave.

November 21

6:22 am: Police issued a “No Trespass” order to a 44-year-old man who had allegedly been trying to conceal himself near the ambulance bay of OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital.

11:15 am: A 15-year-old boy was allegedly caught on camera throwing a landscape brick at a garage door in the Longview Highlands neighborhood. The estimate to fix the damage reportedly came to $2,800.

4:06 pm: A baggie containing white powder was allegedly found near a school bus stop in the Graystone neighborhood.

5:33 pm: Violet Township Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire in Fox Glen East. The 47-year-old homeowner told police that she had forgotten that she had oil heating on the stove and returned to find her kitchen ablaze.

9:02 pm: After an officer pulled over his Chevrolet on Hill Road for not having headlights, a 48-year-old man was cited for not having a license.

 

November 22

3:20 pm: After receiving a notice from the Lake’s Edge Apartment management warning that someone had broken into multiple vehicles, a resident checked his Mitsubishi Outlander. While nothing appeared to be missing, he told police that he found a phone that did not belong to him.

5:29 pm: Police cited a 52-year-old man for reckless operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a license after he allegedly caused an accident at the intersection of Hill and Postage Roads. The man reportedly misjudged the left turn from southbound Hill Road and clipped a Kia Soul that was stopped at the red light.

November 23

1:00 am: When a Buick Verano collided with a Toyota Highlander at the intersection of Stonecreek Drive and Hill Road, the 20-year-old Buick driver had to be transported to OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital. While police still had Stonecreek Drive South blocked, the 30-year-old driver of a Tesla Model Y allegedly threaded his vehicle between a patrol car and a tow truck, then continued driving the wrong way down the street. Police stopped the Tesla and, after conducting a field sobriety test, cited the driver for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He blew a .168 BAC. The legal limit in Ohio is .08 BAC.

2:47 pm: The manager of Five Below reported that an unknown woman and a man who possibly goes by “Tim” shoplifted items including drinks and slime, then left in a white car.

7:27 pm: An officer on patrol allegedly spotted a 22-year-old man urinating behind Classic’s Sports Bar. When the officer approached, the man reportedly climbed into his Hyundai Elantra and took off through the parking lot at a high rate of speed and ran the red light turning north onto Hill Road. The officer caught up with the Hyundai behind Longhorn Steakhouse and called for backup. Police cited the driver for driving while intoxicated, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and an expired license plate.
