May 12

1:18 am Two teen boys allegedly stole four cans of alcohol from the beer cooler at Circle K.

4:16 pm A Columbus woman and her two teenage family members allegedly were seen concealing merchandise from Kohl’s but ditched the items when law enforcement arrived.

8:30 pm Two eleven-year-old boys in Pickerington Hills reported that their neighbor threw “dog poop” at them. The neighbor told police that on earlier occasions children have damaged his property, and he thought he heard something hit his air conditioner.

He denied aiming at the boys. He told police that he routinely tossed feces over the fence to deter children from walking across that part of his lawn.

May 14

3:41 pm A wallet was reportedly stolen from a locker at Lifetime Fitness.

11:54 pm Police received reports from multiple residents of the Lands’ End Apartments that vehicle windows had been smashed and items taken. Officers also recovered a Honda CR-V that had been reported as stolen.

May 16

7:01 am A man called 911 to report a Honda Accord had almost hit him as he was walking into Lifetime Fitness. He told the police that the Accord was traveling around 50 mph from the direction of Kohl’s.

The man threw a water bottle at the vehicle, which led the Honda driver to brake suddenly. The man threw the car into reverse, nearly hitting two pedestrians in front of Roosters. The driver pointed a gun at the man then drove away.

  

 

May 17

8:55 am A Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 16-year-old boy allegedly backed into a Kia Carnival at the McDonald’s parking lot, then fled the scene.

9:01 am At the exit ramp onto southbound Hill Road from Interstate 70, a Toyota Corolla allegedly rearended a Toyota Rav 4 and pushed it into a Nissan Sentra. The Corolla driver skipped the scene, but police found the vehicle through witness statements and the Corolla’s grill that had been left at the scene.

11:08 am A 38-year-old Pickerington man was issued a “No Trespass” order from Chase Bank after threatening staff.

   

2:00 pm A 59-year-old Pickerington man driving a Kia Sportage allegedly pointed a gun at another driver as they were traveling southbound on Hill Road near the Moo Moo Car Wash.

8:55 pm A Pickerington Hills resident found a knife in his driveway with what looked like blood on the blade.

May 18

1:14 am After pulling over an Acura TL for a missing headlight near the corner of Tussing and Hill Roads, an officer allegedly saw a passenger hide a baggie of marijuana under her seat. All four occupants were teenagers from Gahanna and Blacklick.

May 19

5:28 pm A 22-year-old Columbus woman allegedly walked out of Kohl’s with an armload of clothes valued at $652.42. She told police that she had come to the store to steal something for her upcoming birthday, however she should not be charged because she returned the clothes when she saw them arrive.

May 20

2:29 am A 39-year-old Columbus man allegedly pulled his Ford Focus up to the pump at BP, then passed out behind the wheel. When the police woke the man, he tried to put the car in gear to drive away, but the officers had removed the keys from the ignition. He blew a 0.262 bac. The legal limit in Ohio is 0.08 and a bac higher than 0.17 is considered “OVI with enhancement”.

12:48 pm Police stopped by the Long Road home of a 57-year-old man after a concerned caller reported that they had not heard from the man in several days. Officers were greeted by two men (ages 47 and 44) and a woman (age 24) who allegedly said that the homeowner had died but they had not yet called anyone to remove his body.

5:07 pm A 70-year-old man told a 48-year-old resident of Fox Glen East that he would “beat his ass” if the younger man did not pay the money that he owed.

6:14 pm A resident of the George’s Creek neighborhood found a purse in his yard containing a perfume bottle.

9:29 pm After allegedly witnessing a Chevrolet Impala nearly hit another vehicle on Hill Road, an officer pulled the car over on Creekside Drive (the little street near Wendy’s by the Interstate). The license plate was registered to a Dodge Neon and the expired registration listed a man other than the driver as the owner. The vehicle, which served as home for the 29-year-old driver and his 20-year-old passenger, was impounded.

May 21

12:09 pm A trailer was allegedly stolen from the work site of the new Tiger Stadium on Opportunity Way.

8:21 pm Two Columbus men (ages 30 and 39) tried to shoplift from Kohl’s.

May 22

10:25 am Tools valued at $3,000 were stolen from a construction trailer outside Pickerington School’s soon-to-open Early Learning Center on Yarmouth Drive.

12:37 pm A couple hundred dollars in cash was found at the Taco Bell parking lot.

1:51 pm An officer pulled over a Chevrolet Impala near Drug Mart for having an expired registration sticker. The driver, a 55-year-old Pickerington man, had a suspended driver’s license and was wanted on a warrant out of Licking County.

4:16 pm A 16-year-old boy from the Reserve at Pickerington Ponds allegedly attempted to walk four bulldogs despite only having two leashes. One of the dogs chased a woman and her two-year-old daughter into their house and followed before the woman could close the door.

The dog allegedly jumped on the little girl. Violet Township Paramedics believe the cuts and scratches on the toddler were from claws rather than teeth. The boy and his parents told the police that they would not walk their dogs without leashes in the future.

8:28 pm A 32-year-old woman with an expired license was pulled over after she allegedly did not signal a left turn from Refugee Road onto Hill Road.

May 23

4:59 pm After police entered Kohl’s, a 33-year-old Columbus man placed most of the items that he allegedly had attempted to steal on a counter near the exits.

6:59 pm An 18-year-old man drove the wrong way down Park Alley.

May 24

9:44 pm An officer noticed a Nissan Maxima parked outside the Sycamore Park Apartments with a temporary license plate and significant damage to its rear window. Dispatch ran the VIN and discovered that the owner had purchased a new plate from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, but that she, a 52-year-old Columbus woman, was wanted on a warrant for arson.

The police allegedly asked the apartment’s resident to speak with his mother. Initially, he told the officers that he did not know where she was.  However, when an officer explained that he could be jailed for lying, he told them that she was in the bedroom up the stairs to the left.

She had allegedly locked the bedroom door then barricaded herself in the ensuite bathroom. An officer opened the first door with a multitool. The suspect opened the bathroom door after the police threatened to kick it down.

Enroute to transferring her to the Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies, the woman allegedly complained of being too hot and wanting to remove her sweater. The officer set the air conditioning to its lowest temperature, but she was still not comfortable. When the officer parked and opened her door, he saw that she had partially removed her sweater.

She allegedly repeated, “Don’t be mad, don’t be mad, don’t be mad!” then admitted to slipping her hand from the cuffs.

May 25

12:26 am An officer pulled over Jeep Grand Cherokee for allegedly driving 58 mph on Long Road near Balderson Drive where the limit is 35 mph. The driver, a 30-year-old Canal Winchester man, told the officer he was running late for a graduation party. Dispatch reported that Franklin County had issued a warrant for the man for improper handling of a firearm and drug trafficking. His license had also been suspended. In his wallet, police allegedly found two bank cards which did not belong to him.
