Pickerington Police June 15-21, 2025

June 15

5:55 a.m. A bag containing personal hygiene products, cigarettes, and snack wrappers was found behind a home adjacent to the Simsbury Disc Golf Course. Officers suspect the items may belong to a homeless person who sheltered under the overhang during a rainstorm.

June 16

12:33 a.m. A man dressed in all black allegedly stole cigarettes from Speedway.

7:04 a.m. A 63-year-old Pickerington man reported receiving a phone call from an unknown person offering him a job. Before starting the position, the caller claimed, the man would need to purchase $2,400 worth of Apple gift cards to send to their “certified vendor.”

June 17

1:47 p.m. Police received a report of vandalism at the Diley Middle School playground. Surveillance footage allegedly showed that at 1 a.m. on June 16, a white Kia K5 pulled up behind the school and a group of young men exited carrying spray paint.
The suspects reportedly painted male genitalia near the words “f__k Central” across a basketball court. The video also allegedly shows one of the boys being lifted by friends to add a racial slur to the backboard.

June 18

8:44 a.m. A city employee driving a John Deere Gator eastbound on Columbus Street extended his arm to signal a left turn onto East Street. The 21-year-old man driving a Lexus ES350 behind the Gator interpreted the gesture as a signal to pass. To avoid a collision, the Lexus swerved and sideswiped the J&A Auto Parts building.
9:18 p.m. A man wearing black clothes and a black mask allegedly stole cigarettes from Speedway and fled in a black car.

June 19

8:54 p.m. An officer stopped a Ford Fusion after allegedly witnessing it run a stop sign at Pruden Drive and Hill Road. Smelling marijuana, the officer asked the driver and passengers if any were over the age of 21. When they all replied “no,” the officer confiscated the drugs.

June 20

4:26 p.m. After a 12-year-old boy allegedly walked out of Kohl’s wearing unpaid merchandise, police stopped his family’s Cadillac SRX in the parking lot. The boy returned the clothes, but he and his siblings had to exit the vehicle because their mother did not have a driver’s license, and the car lacked a license plate.

June 21

12:52 a.m. An officer pulled over a Jeep on Hill Road near Postage Drive for reportedly driving without taillights. The vehicle was a rental, and the 54-year-old driver did not have a valid license.

9:20 a.m. Staff at OhioHealth Pickerington reported someone rummaging through a vehicle in the parking lot. When officers confronted the 35-year-old man, he explained that he had noticed the car was unlocked and had opened the door briefly to “secure” it before anything could be stolen. Surveillance footage confirmed he had not taken anything.

7:56 p.m. A Walgreens clerk reported that an unknown person shattered a glass case and stole all of the displayed perfume.
