July 20

12:42 a.m. A 22-year-old woman allegedly confronted her 21-year-old boyfriend at Classic’s Sports Bar after discovering him with another woman, 21. The other woman allegedly “ran up on” the 22-year-old, who countered with a punch to the face.

3:29 a.m. A 24-year-old man allegedly took his 20-year-old friend’s gun as a joke after giving him a ride to his home on Refugee Road. Both ran into the woods, alarming neighbors who reported gunfire. Police found both intoxicated. Although the gun had been lost in the chase.

7:26 a.m. A 37-year-old man tried to cancel his membership at Planet Fitness but was told by a 19-year-old staff member that it had to be done online. Fearing his reaction, she locked herself in the breakroom. Police issued the man a “No Trespass” order. He responded that he hoped that meant his membership was canceled.

12:44 p.m. Police stopped a 51-year-old woman in the Aldi parking lot after she allegedly left the store without paying for items in her cart.

July 21

2:44 a.m. A 44-year-old DoorDash driver reported being attacked by a 24-year-old Speedway clerk. The driver said he grabbed an order without waiting for staff to hand it to him, prompting the clerk to snatch it back. The driver claimed she punched him, but a witness contradicted his account.

11:14 a.m. A 39-year-old man reported that UPS staff refused to accept a FedEx delivery to his rented box. FedEx had no record of the refusal, therefore the package (containing The Amazing Spider-Man issue #300 valued at $1,500) was lost.

6:27 p.m. A resident came home on Courtright Drive East to find a BMW in his parking spot bumper to bumper against his son’s F-150. When his 34-year-old wife asked the driver to move, the stranger allegedly threatened her. Police said he refused to identify himself and claimed that he did not, “know whose vehicle that is.” However, officers identified him and confirmed that he owned the BMW, after they found his wallet on the lawn. The driver refused sobriety and blood alcohol tests and was charged with OVI. Police later determined that the man had intended to visit his cousin who lived on the other half of the duplex but was not home at the time.

July 22

8:47 a.m. Someone allegedly stole tools valued at $1,550 from a work van parked at Country Inn & Suites.

6:07 p.m. After a Pickerington woman reported a $690.98 fraudulent charge on her bank card, police traced the purchases to a 32-year-old man in Vandalia.

July 23

11:12 a.m. A 16-year-old boy reported that his clothes and shoes were stolen while he swam at the Pickerington Ridge pool. Apartment staff produced the items, telling police that the maintenance staff believed the items had been forgotten.

12:15 p.m. A semi-truck driver on Long Road missed a turn and attempted to turn around in the Colony Park neighborhood. He said that his 13-foot-6-inch vehicle should have had enough clearance, but it snagged an overhead power line. Police called South Central Power to repair the downed cable.

12:56 p.m. Someone found a steak knife on Town Square Drive.

2:29 p.m. An 8-year-old boy allegedly fired his father’s handgun in their Pickerington Ridge apartment. A fragment of the bullet became embedded in the other side of the wall near where a neighbor rested in bed.

4:01 p.m. An 18-year-old woman returned to Roosters to retrieve her phone after she and friends allegedly left without paying.

July 24

3:46 a.m. Police apprehended a man believed to have been rummaging through vehicles in the Windmiller Ponds neighborhood. Items were returned to owners.

5:11 a.m. A Honda CR-V turning onto westbound Refugee Road from northbound Hill Road allegedly veered too far right, almost hitting a police cruiser. The 69-year-old driver had no license, and his plates were invalid.

12:25 p.m. Police stopped a Hyundai Tucson near Fairfield Federal after Kohl’s loss prevention reported a 54-year-old female passenger had shoplifted $1,219 in fragrances and cosmetics. Officers told the 24-year-old driver that he could go but that his mother was going to jail.

5:42 p.m. A couple allegedly stole $438.29 in Newport menthol cigarettes from BP.

July 25

3:26 a.m. Police stopped an 18-year-old Kia Forte driver near Midas for weaving between lanes. She and her passenger said they were following GPS to a party. Neither had a license.

 

12:18 p.m. Officers arrested a 46-year-old man in the Graystone neighborhood on an outstanding warrant.

2:17 p.m. A 58-year-old woman in Stonebridge reported that her neighbor’s dog tore through her fence plats and ran after her.

2:52 p.m. A Nissan Versa crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Honda Civic on Center Street near Reynolds Avenue, pushing it into a fire hydrant. The 20-year-old Nissan driver had no license. The 38-year-old Honda driver injured her arm from the airbag; her children were unharmed.
