Pickerington Police July 12 – 24, 2024

July 12

6:02 pm: Kohl’s Loss Prevention Officer called the police to report a possible theft in progress. The two suspects, a 35-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man, were at the register when police arrived. The woman had allegedly just purchased a Nike sweatshirt, and the man told police she was paying for his items as well. The Kohl’s card used for the purchase allegedly did not belong to either of them.

Police also discovered the male suspect possessed a food benefit card belonging to another individual. Both suspects were wanted on warrants from multiple jurisdictions. After officers discovered a used crack pipe, the man allegedly admitted to smoking cocaine earlier and said he was not feeling well. The woman allegedly admitted to swallowing heroin when she saw the officers arrive at the store. Both were taken to OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital.

10:27 pm: During Picktown Palooza, four girls (ages 10 to 15) gathered at the Pickerington Public Library’s Main Branch to watch a fight between a 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old girl.

11:56 pm: After Picktown Palooza, two male teens (ages 17 and 18) fought at Pickerington High School Central.

July 13

12:39 am: A Nissan Altima driven by a 17-year-old boy was allegedly clocked driving 82 mph on Long Road just east of Diley Road.

2:36 am: Police pulled over a Honda Civic on Hill Road near Advanced Auto Parts for allegedly failing to stay within its lane. The 35-year-old driver allegedly told officers that he had not been drinking, but he was placed under arrest after a standardized field sobriety test. He refused to submit to a breathalyzer test and allegedly told officers, “I’ve been way drunker.” He had been driving on a suspended license.

7:35 pm: A 52-year-old man was cited for driving while intoxicated after officers allegedly found him at the Kroger (Hill Road) gas station, passed out behind the wheel of his Chevrolet Silverado.

July 14

4:35 pm: Witnesses reported that a Honda Civic turned left from Blacklick-Eastern Road onto Hill Road in front of an eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle. The 44-year-old driver of the Harley allegedly “laid down” the motorcycle to avoid colliding with the Honda, severely injuring himself and his wife.

The Honda fled the scene, but officers located the 18-year-old driver. The man allegedly told the police that he remembered seeing an oncoming motorcycle, but he had plenty of time to make his turn. He was unaware of an accident.

The man’s parents, who had been following behind his vehicle, told police that the motorcycle crash happened after their son had turned through the intersection and that they suspected wind was responsible.

6:03 pm: Witnesses called police to report a group of male teens verbally harassing a female McDonald’s worker. Officers caught three of the teens as they fled towards Get Air. An employee at Wendy’s alerted the police to a fourth suspect hiding in their bathroom. The teens were issued a “No Trespass” order for McDonald’s.

July 15

3:36 pm: An employee at the Embassy of Pickerington told police that a coworker tackled her, causing her identification badge to slice her chest.

4:07 pm: On Hill Road near the Logos Bible Church, an officer had to euthanize a deer with two broken legs.

8:10 pm: An 18-year-old man was cited after the Honda Accord he was driving clipped a motorcycle on Hill Road in Olde Pickerington. The man told officers that he noticed the motorcycle slow down several times and thought the driver was allowing him to pass. He allegedly did not see the motorcycle’s left turn signal.

July 16

1:24 am: A Mercedes-Benz C230 was pulled over for allegedly driving 27 mph in the 45-mph zone of Diley Road. The 29-year-old male driver did not have a license.

2:14 pm: Police pulled over a BMW 335 for not having a license plate. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer saw that there was an expired temporary license attached inside the tinted rear window. The 31-year-old male driver had a suspended license.

6:44 pm: A 20-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police responded to a disturbance at Twinado Kitchen Jerk Shack. Allegedly, his girlfriend became angry after she saw him talking to his “baby momma” and knocked his food out of his hands.

6:45 pm: A white Mazda 3 allegedly hit a red Nissan Altima on Hill Road near the intersection with Tussing, then fled the scene. Police located the 19-year-old Mazda driver who allegedly said that she did not stop because she was frightened.

July 17

12:04 pm: A man reported that someone had broken into his unit at Public Storage and stolen a long list of items, including guitars and workout equipment.

 

12:21 pm: Ryan Homes reported that lights were stolen from a home under construction in the Graystone neighborhood.

July 18

6:11 pm: An unknown person dropped off a 9 mm cartridge at the Pickerington Police Station. They offered no information other than that they had found it in the gravel along Hill Road.

6:20 pm: A 48-year-old woman told police that she paid a $500 down payment for a 2015 Honda Accord, but the seller then informed her that the down payment had been raised to $1,000.

PayPal allegedly told the woman that it would not refund the payment because she knew the seller. Thewoman told police that she did not know the seller. However, her coworker thought that one of the people in the seller’s Facebook profile looked like a high school classmate. Police contacted the classmate, who was unaware of the account.

July 19

1:34 am: Classic’s Sports Bar requested a “No Trespass” order be issued to a 30-year-old man who allegedly signed his bill with a drawing of a penis and called the server a “b___h.”

4:08 pm: A 55-year-old woman living on Long Road told police that when she went to her 67-year-old neighbor’s door to ask for help mowing her lawn, the neighbor’s American Eskimo dog bit her.

4:19 pm: Witnesses reported a man left AJ Wingburger, urinated on a parked car, then got behind the wheel of a Toyota Echo. He allegedly hit a Toyota Corolla, then drove away.

That night at 11:38 pm, police allegedly found the 39-year-old suspect sleeping in the Echo, which was parked at Walgreens. He allegedly told the officer that he had a flat tire and since he could not change it by himself, he took a nap. At that time, he exhibited no signs of impairment.

6:43 pm: A Chevrolet Cobalt was pulled over in the Colony Park neighborhood after an officer allegedly clocked it driving 44 mph in the 25-mph zone of Long Road. The 20-year-old driver had a suspended license, an expired registration, and the license plate belonged to a Pontiac Torrent.

July 20

1:59 am: A man called police after his girlfriend allegedly flattened the tires and scratched the paint on his Mercedes Benz parked at the Lakes Edge Apartments. His girlfriend allegedly told him that her father and brothers were on their way to “handle him,” so he fled. When officers arrived, they discovered bullet holes in the car.

3:30 pm: By the time emergency crews arrived, a home in the Sycamore Creek neighborhood was “fully engulfed in flames.” Nobody was inside.

July 21

12:03 am: A fight allegedly broke out in Finnegan’s Wake after an unidentified, inebriated individual repeatedly asked a 33-year-old man wearing a cowboy hat if he “f____d donkeys.”

5:12 pm: A 47-year-old man told police that his 54-year-old neighbor in the Sycamore Creek community called him racial slurs and threatened to “kick his ass” if he parked in front of his house again. The man said that the vehicle in front of his neighbor’s house was not his, and he did not know to whom it belonged. The neighbor allegedly admitted to yelling the slurs but denied making any threats.

10:36 pm: A Chevrolet Impala was pulled over near Hill Road and Blacklick Eastern because the owner had a suspended license. He was also wanted on three warrants.

July 22

12:28 pm: An officer pulled over a Dodge Avenger on Hill Road near Refugee because its license plate allegedly belonged to a Jeep. The owner, who had a suspended license and registration, allegedly told the officer that he purchased the Dodge with the intent to resell it, therefore he had not purchased insurance and had used a plate from another vehicle. When the officer asked for a key for the tow truck driver, the man reportedly snapped his key in two then refused to sign the citation.

7:39 pm: Police pulled over a Chevrolet Traverse because the 25-year-old owner did not have a driver’s license. They arrested her 26-year-old passenger because he was allegedly in violation of a protection order that the driver had placed against him.

8:51 pm: A 59-year-old man was arrested on two outstanding warrants after officers found him allegedly passed out under a tree in front of Marcus Cinemas.

July 24

10:13 pm: A Chevrolet Impala was pulled over on Tussing Road near Hill Road for not having a license plate. Once the officer approached, he discovered a temporary plate inside the tinted rear window. The 19-year-old driver had a suspended license and was wanted on a warrant. Her 22-year-old male passenger, who was holding a baby, was also wanted on a warrant.
