1:29 a.m. A 15-year-old girl reportedly snuck out of her home and took her parents’ Hyundai Tucson for a drive. An officer noticed the vehicle driving erratically on Long Road—stopping, then starting repeatedly. The vehicle had fictitious plates.
8:31 p.m. A 23-year-old woman allegedly shoplifted from Kohl’s, then fled the scene in a Ford Explorer driven by a 21-year-old woman. The Ford reportedly accelerated to a high speed and ran the red light on Postage Road.
August 8
2:01 p.m. An officer euthanized an injured deer that had been hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Hill Road and Town Square Drive.
2:39 p.m. An unknown person broke a side-view mirror on a Jeep belonging to the City of Pickerington.
7:42 p.m. Police arrested a 52-year-old man on a warrant out of Delaware County after his Dodge Avenger was pulled over on Hill Road for driving 51 mph in a 25-mph zone.
August 9
4:30 p.m. Police received a report that a 33-year-old man gave an ill 15-year-old boy marijuana, which may have exacerbated his condition.
7:58 p.m. A 26-year-old man was cited for driving with a suspended license after the Acura ILX he was driving allegedly ran a red light at Diley and Hill Roads in front of a police officer.
8:08 p.m. A 73-year-old woman reported that someone stole a credit card from her purse while she was standing outside Cracker Barrel.
August 10
12:48 p.m. Police pulled over a Toyota Corolla on Diley Road near Windmiller for allegedly weaving between lanes. After a field sobriety test, the 28-year-old driver was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He declined to take a breathalyzer test.
1:06 a.m. An officer pulled over a Jeep after allegedly witnessing it make a left turn out of the Speedway lot onto Hill Road. The 38-year-old driver reportedly told the officer he was heading home after a few drinks at the Corner Bar. After a field sobriety test, the man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and taken to the Pickerington Police station, where his blood alcohol content measured 0.182. The legal limit in Ohio is 0.08.
4:26 p.m. A Flock camera detected a stolen Camry traveling on State Route 204 past Taylor Road. Officers found the heavily damaged vehicle at United Dairy Farmers and arrested the 19-year-old driver.
5:12 p.m. After services at Power & Glory Ministries, a man told police that he had left his designer bag on top of his car as he drove home. An officer retraced the route with him, but they were unable to find the bag, which contained his wallet and a loaded Smith & Wesson pistol.
7:14 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Pathfinder traveling on Refugee Road because the 66-year-old woman who owned the vehicle was wanted on a warrant.
August 11
3:50 a.m. After clocking a Jeep Cherokee traveling 54 mph in the 35-mph zone of Hill Road, an officer attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle allegedly accelerated and turned into the Melrose neighborhood but ended up in a cul-de-sac. The 33-year-old driver parked half on a driveway and half on the grass, then exited the vehicle.
After he allegedly refused commands to return, the officer drew his service pistol and ordered him to place both hands on the cruiser’s hood until backup arrived. The man reportedly smelled of alcohol but denied drinking and declined a field sobriety test. He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Records showed he had no valid license or registration. He allegedly told the second officer that he was on his way to pick up his child.
1:42 p.m. Staff at the UPS Store called police to report that a 24-year-old man had twice attempted to collect a package intended for another customer. The man had presented a fraudulent notarized letter stating he had permission to retrieve the package on behalf of the recipient.
An employee recognized that the notary stamp was not genuine and confirmed it by checking the Ohio database of registered notaries. The man told police he had received the letter and instructions from his new employer, Timberloop Shopping.
August 12
12:07 a.m. A woman told police that a man at Twins Tavern stuck his cocaine-covered fingers into her mouth. She said she had been three years clean and feared the drugs would show up in her next screening. The man alleged that she had flirted with him by sucking on his fingers, but he denied any drug use.
11:49 p.m. A man hired to clean the American Motorcycle Association headquarters told police he forgot his keys and accidentally set off the alarm. He was arrested on a warrant from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
1:24 p.m. Someone stole the sign for the Turnberry Golf Course.
August 13
1:45 a.m. A Hyundai Sonata heading southbound on Hill Road reportedly ran the red light at Tussing Road, narrowly missing a Pickerington Police cruiser. Upon being stopped near Speedway, the 23-year-old driver allegedly told the officer that what he had just done was “stupid.” He said he was on probation and wore an ankle monitor.
He had no license but was on his way to pick up his girlfriend from work. When informed the vehicle would be towed, the man reportedly told officers that he “knew his rights” and that they could not tow his car. He also allegedly said that if they wrote him a citation, he would “tear it up and throw it on the ground.”
1:35 p.m. A 51-year-old woman told police that as she was driving southbound on Hill Road, another vehicle pulled out of the Turnberry Golf Course lot and cut her off. The 18-year-old driver of the other vehicle said he noticed the woman in the car behind him yelling and gesturing.
When she pulled alongside him at a traffic light, he rolled down his window to ask what her problem was. She allegedly responded, “I didn’t say anything, bitch!” and sprayed him and his 16-year-old passenger with pepper spray. She told officers she thought she saw the teen reach for something and that was why she sprayed him.
