10:09 p.m. An officer pulled over a Ford Escape for driving 54 mph in the 35-mph zone of Long Road. The driver allegedly refused to accept the speeding ticket, saying his speedometer read 42 mph. He insisted on speaking with a supervisor. When the supervisor arrived, the man claimed he had been driving somewhere between 39 and 41 mph, which was “within the 5-mph grace period.”
August 25
11:36 a.m. A customer found a loaded Glock pistol in the men’s restroom of the Hill Road Kroger.
August 26
12:48 a.m. An officer pulled over a Honda Odyssey after it drove past the police station without a license plate light. The 36-year-old woman had been driving with a suspended license.
2:34 a.m. A Chrysler 300 hit a deer on Hill Road near Amber Park Senior Living. The vehicle was still drivable, but an officer had to euthanize the deer where it lay in the ditch.
4:16 a.m. Two men reportedly built a campfire behind the Country Inn & Suites. One of the men, age 43, was wanted on a warrant and allegedly possessed a recently used methamphetamine pipe.
11:46 a.m. At Speedway, police recovered a Ford Econoline van that had been reported stolen out of Columbus.
5:07 p.m. A woman said that she began talking with a person on Facebook named “Mill Key,” but one day they had an argument. The next day, she received a phone call threatening to kick in her door if she did not send money through a cash app. She told police that she sent the person $1,115 and later discovered that the stranger had accessed her bank account as well.
8:26 p.m. An unknown vehicle rear-ended a Honda Civic at the Tussing/Hill Road intersection, pushing it into a Tesla Model 3. The unknown driver allegedly provided the Honda driver with false information, then fled the scene.
August 27
7:37 p.m. Surveillance footage allegedly caught a 31-year-old BP employee scratching off lottery tickets until she found winners, then paying herself from the register. The manager told police that the woman had stolen thousands of dollars over the course of her employment.
11:41 a.m. Someone allegedly stole more than $3,000 worth of tools from a work vehicle parked at Comfort Inn.
August 28
10:48 p.m. After an officer pulled over his Dodge Dart on Hill Road for not having a registration sticker, a 29-year-old man was arrested on a warrant out of Reynoldsburg. He did not have a driver’s license.
1:54 p.m. A man allegedly told the clerk at Speedway that he lost his wallet in the store and was desperate to find it. When she walked outside to ask her manager if anyone had found a wallet, the man reportedly stole the coin changer filled with $112 worth of coins.
August 29
7:10 p.m. An officer turning from Route 204 allegedly witnessed a Honda Civic traveling southbound on Hill Road at a high rate of speed. Although he was unable to clock the Honda’s rate, he reported that it was tailgating another vehicle and missing its brake lights. The 21-year-old woman driving the car had a suspended license.
9:43 p.m. An employee noticed merchandise missing from Ulta Beauty and reviewed surveillance footage. On August 28, a man and a woman could be seen shoplifting.
