Pickerington Police August 19-23, 2024

August 19

2:16 pm Unknown perpetrators damaged the fence running along the Reserve at Pickerington Ponds and reportedly threw the pieces into Diley Road.

6:31 pm Police pulled over a Chevrolet Blazer on the westbound ramp onto Interstate 70 on a tip that the passengers had allegedly shoplifted from Five Below.

The 52-year-old woman in the front passenger seat was wanted on a warrant out of Franklin County but was released to Mount Camel Medical Group in Reynoldsburg on account of “open wounds” from a skin condition.

A glass pipe was allegedly found near the 51-year-old man in the backseat. The merchandise from Five Below (wipes, candy and clothing) was reportedly found in the trunk. The 55-year-old female driver was cited for not having a license.

9:43 pm Police arrested an 18-year-old woman at her home in the Sycamore Creek neighborhood on an outstanding warrant.

August 20

8:47 am As a truck belonging to the Righter Company was turning left onto Tussing Road from Hill Road, an object reportedly flew off its trailer and hit a truck belonging to Clyde Muse Plumbing Inc.

10:20 pm Police found a Subaru Forester with a stolen plate at Sheetz.  Two suspects (possibly a male and a female) allegedly fled the store and ran through the cornfield towards the water treatment plant. Officers reported finding drug paraphernalia in the women’s restroom.

11:09 pm A 41-year-old man was allegedly scammed into depositing $2,000 into an unknown Bitcoin account.

4:04 pm In the Wellington Park neighborhood, a 49-year-old woman was walking her dog when two of her neighbor’s dogs allegedly attacked her. She said that she was not sure which of the dogs (both mixed breed boxers) bit her. Violet Township paramedics took her to OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital because her left hand was “bleeding profusely”.

August 21

6:46 pm A 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man allegedly got into a fight in the parking lot of Party City.

8:55 pm A 26-year-old woman with a suspended license allegedly told police that she made the illegal left turn from Windmiller Drive onto Diley Road (around the barricade) because her GPS told her to do so.

August 22

2:26 pm Two men (ages 41 and 21) allegedly got into a fight at Twin’s Tavern.

3:17 pm Police found a stolen Honda HRV in the McDonald’s drive thru. The 28-year-old driver proved to be the registered owner. She told the officers that she had found her car but had not updated the Columbus Police.

August 23

1:31 am A 22-year-old man was cited for driving without a license after an officer allegedly saw him cross a double yellow line on Hill Road near Postage Road.

2:49 am A 30-year-old woman leaving Classic’s Sports Bar in a Kia Sportage allegedly hit a speed limit sign on Stonecreek Drive North. A video from the Kia’s dashcam recorded the sign being drug for several yards until it unlodged when the vehicle veered off the sidewalk and back onto the road. An officer stationed at the Hunter’s Run shopping complex heard the collision and stopped the damaged Kia on Tussing Road. The front left tire had blown, and it was driving on the rim.

The driver allegedly told officers that on an intoxication scale of one to 10 that she was “at a two, at least” and that she had previously driven home when she was “way more” drunk. She reportedly blew a .196 bac. The legal limit in Ohio is .08 bac.

11:20 am A 52-year-old woman allegedly told police that she stopped by Pickerington Elementary so that her 14-year-old son could use the restroom. A teacher reported that the boy had urinated on the tree in front of the building.

12:01 pm A 28-year-old man told police that he had returned to Amazon a diaper bag that his wife had ordered because he wanted to purchase a larger one. When he shipped the bag from the UPS Store, he did not know that she had stored the family’s personal documents in the bag (passports, social security cards and birth certificates) along with $1,500 in cash.

3:30 pm A 15-year-old boy (who had a “No Trespass” order filed against him from the Pickerington Public Library for prior disruptions and was on probation for an unrelated offense) allegedly punched a 14-year-old boy at the library’s main branch.

7:03 pm Kohl’s surveillance cameras allegedly caught one of their employees (a 19-year-old man) stealing merchandise.

 

August 24

4:27 pm A Walmart van reportedly struck a 13-year-old cyclist near the corner of Diley and Long Roads. The bicycle was damaged, but medics checked and released the girl.

5:18 pm The manager of Ulta Beauty reported that the previous day a woman left the store with a shopping basket of merchandise without paying. The value of the stolen items totaled $977.94. The suspect allegedly left in a white Hyundai driven by a man in a baseball cap.
