3:23 p.m. Police issued a 25-year-old woman a “No Trespass” order for Kohl’s after she allegedly concealed merchandise. She reportedly dumped the items before exiting the store.
6:23 p.m. An officer cited a 35-year-old driver for operating under a suspended license after stopping his Toyota Corolla, which was reportedly traveling 40 mph in the 25-mph zone on Long Road.
August 20
9:52 a.m. An officer on patrol discovered a stolen U-Haul parked behind the Hampton Inn.
1:46 p.m. The Loss Prevention Officer at Kohl’s reported that a 33-year-old woman concealed merchandise in a diaper bag and left the store without paying.
2:43 p.m. A masked man allegedly tried to leave Barnes & Noble with a record player. When confronted, he claimed he was returning the item but had forgotten his receipt. After being told he was seen entering the store empty-handed, the man left with the merchandise. The employee provided police with a photo of the suspect taken at another store where he had reportedly shoplifted.
August 21
4:40 p.m. After a caller reported teenagers using drugs at Sycamore Creek Park, police confiscated marijuana from two boys at the skatepark.
August 22
3:48 p.m. A woman reported being scammed after paying $1,800 for football tickets that never materialized.
9:31 p.m. An officer cited a 35-year-old man for driving without a license after stopping his Dodge Charger on Hill Road for driving without headlights.
August 23
8:22 a.m. A 58-year-old woman allegedly became angry after being told by a Moo Moo Car Wash employee that she needed to follow the queue instead of turning directly into the kiosk lane. The woman reportedly bumped the worker with her car, then backed up and repeated the action twice more.
12:02 p.m. A Kia Sorento struck a deer on Diley Road near the Knight’s Bridge neighborhood. The vehicle was badly damaged, but the driver was uninjured. An officer had to euthanize the animal, and a passing motorist stopped to ask for the deer.
3:44 p.m. A tan Honda Civic backed into a black Honda Pilot in the Kohl’s parking lot and fled the scene.
5:30 p.m. A 34-year-old man with a suspended license was arrested on a warrant out of Bellefontaine after the Hyundai Santa Fe he was driving ran a red light on Hill Road in front of a police cruiser.
9:16 p.m. All four tires were slashed on a vehicle at the Lake’s Edge Apartments.
11:21 p.m. An officer cited a 31-year-old man for driving on a suspended license after stopping his Ford Edge on Refugee Road for having only one headlight.
August 24
12:53 a.m. Police stopped a Jeep Compass near the interstate entrance ramp because its license plate belonged to a Dodge Charger. Upon approaching the 70-year-old driver, the officer allegedly smelled alcohol. The driver declined to perform a field sobriety test, saying that even when he was younger he couldn’t pass one, and he also refused a breathalyzer test.
2:51 p.m. A woman reported that someone had charged $5,625.81 to a Sprint account in her name.
August 25
10:08 a.m. A security camera in the Timber Ridge neighborhood recorded that the previous night, a person in a white truck took items from a neighbor’s vehicle.
