August 31

2:06 p.m. After buying a “new” TV stand from a man on Facebook Marketplace, a woman said she discovered it was broken. When she couldn’t reach the seller, she ordered more furniture to confront him in person. When she and her husband met the seller at Sheetz, the man was different than the one who sold them the stand. The husband demanded a refund, but the man said he wasn’t involved.

The seller then claimed the husband threatened him with a gun, so he ran into the store to call police.

6:04 p.m. A large bag of roofing materials was found near the Comfort Inn.

September 1

12:55 a.m. An officer stopped a Toyota Camry on Hill Road near Donatos for weaving between lanes and cited the driver for not having a license.

1:18 p.m. A Giant Eagle employee reported that a man in a pickup truck has been stealing cardboard bales and wooden pallets from behind local stores. Each bale is worth about $30 when recycled. The chain estimates $4,000 in losses.

September 2

6:25 p.m. A 9-year-old boy in the Willow Pond neighborhood was bitten by a pit bull while retrieving a soccer ball from a neighbor’s yard. When officers approached the dog’s owners, they allegedly questioned why police assumed it was their dog, then closed the door.

9:43 p.m. A man returning to his room at the Comfort Inn found his belongings missing. The night before, he had requested a room change due to ants, but management failed to update the system and double-booked his room. The woman who checked into the room and took the items said she assumed the clothing belonged to her male companion.

September 3

6:49 a.m. A Sycamore Creek resident reported vehicle damage. Police determined that a 22-year-old woman allegedly hit the car with her Jeep while attempting a U-turn, then fled the scene.

8:40 a.m. A school bus attempting to drive around a box truck scraped a Ram 1500, damaging its mirror. The 61-year-old driver was cited but continued to Diley Middle School with 40 students.

6:27 p.m. A 32-year-old woman allegedly stole a flat iron from Ulta Beauty.

September 4

1:16 a.m. Pickerington officers assisted the Ohio Highway Patrol in stopping an erratic driver on Refugee Road. Stop sticks flattened the front tires of a Honda Civic driven by a 37-year-old woman.

3:16 a.m. An unidentified woman allegedly attacked a BP clerk after being told the restroom was out of order.

3:43 p.m. A man broke into an Overland Park apartment while the resident was asleep and stole cash and a dresser drawer. Surveillance showed him entering through a window and leaving through a side door. Apartment staff said they suspected a recently fired maintenance worker.

September 5

3:35 p.m. A 23-year-old woman at Longhorn Steakhouse allegedly became angry when asked for ID, cursed at staff, and threw dishes.

6:22 p.m. A GMC Sierra driver allegedly blocked a Mazda CX-9 from passing by cutting it off multiple times, then pointed a gun at the driver when he finally allowed it to pass.

September 6

4:28 p.m. Items were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the Melrose neighborhood.

4:41 p.m. Police attempted to contact the owner of a Nissan Altima that had been parked at Marcus Cinema since July 2023.

10:08 p.m. Two men allegedly tried to break into a white trailer at Keller Farms. Surveillance showed them arriving in a green truck towing a trailer.

 

September 7

9:48 a.m. An Australian Shepherd got loose in the Sycamore Creek neighborhood and bit a Corgi.

12:19 p.m. An 18-year-old man told police another car forced him off Hill Road, causing his Honda Civic to become stuck straddling the curb of the Rick’s Freshmade parking lot. A witness said there was no other car. He was cited for driving on a suspended license and failing to maintain control.

September 8

3:32 a.m. A Toyota Prius struck a deer on the interstate. The driver was uninjured, but the car was heavily damaged.

9:16 a.m. A Chromebook was stolen from an unlocked vehicle at Lake’s Edge Apartments.

2:53 p.m. A 38-year-old man known for prior incidents allegedly stole $344.50 in merchandise from Kohl’s.

September 9

1:44 p.m. A container filled with drugs and paraphernalia was found in the men’s bathroom at Giant Eagle.

8:19 p.m. Three teenagers allegedly damaged a garage door by kicking it repeatedly in the Graystone neighborhood.

September 10

12:31 a.m. Someone smashed the windows and slashed the tires of a car on Courtright Drive.

2:26 p.m. A man allegedly stole a Galaxy Z Fold 7 valued at $1,100 from the AT&T Store.

7:03 p.m. Star Wars figures and a mink coat were reported stolen from a Public Storage unit.

7:59 p.m. A mother told police that her 10-year-old son was being bullied by a 12-year-old teammate at Ridgeview Junior High. She said the older boy made sexual comments, assaulted him, and shared his photo in a group chat. She also claimed the other boy’s mother, who works at the school, confronted her son and made intimidating remarks.

9:00 p.m. A Kia Sportage was stopped on Columbus Street for an illegal U-turn and speeding 52 mph in a 35-mph zone. The 53-year-old driver had an expired plate and license.

9:44 p.m. A 42-year-old man was arrested after allegedly calling the police station to threaten an officer. He told police he was angry but couldn’t remember why.

10:32 p.m. A 26-year-old woman was cited for driving without a license after being stopped on Windmiller Drive for not having a visible plate.

11:28 p.m. A 28-year-old man was arrested at Marcus Cinema where he had been riding a bicycle with a bent rim and drinking Fireball Whiskey. He had three outstanding warrants, including one for a stolen vehicle.

September 12

8:06 a.m. A purse was stolen from a car on Urich Drive.

1:44 p.m. A boy known to police allegedly stole a bicycle from a yard in Longview Highlands.

5:50 p.m. Kohl’s loss prevention shared footage of a 44-year-old woman allegedly loading a stolen KitchenAid mixer into her Jeep Patriot.

September 14

12:45 p.m. A man driving a Toyota Tacoma allegedly yelled to another man on Lakeview Drive, “I know where you live now, Bud, and I’ll get ya!” Two days earlier, the pair were involved in a road-rage incident near Combustion Brewery.

September 15

3:17 a.m. A Chevrolet Cruze was stopped on Hill Road after weaving between lanes. The 26-year-old driver was sober but cited for driving on a suspended license.

1:17 p.m. A Pickerington High School Central parent reported that another student sold his child drugs.

September 16

1:55 a.m. A 50-year-old man was arrested on a warrant after being found lying in the grass near the Turnberry Shopping Center.

9:54 a.m. Wire was stolen from a home under construction in the Reserve at Pickerington Ponds.

5:12 p.m. A Ford Mustang ran a red light on Hill Road at Birchwood Street and collided with a Subaru Outback. The driver was cited for a fictitious plate.

September 17

3:08 p.m. A Toyota Highlander driver stopped to avoid a speeding Chevrolet Impala that was passing cars on Lockville Road. The Impala clipped the Highlander’s bumper before turning onto Park Alley. Video from Violet Township Fire Station 591 helped police identify the 67-year-old driver.

3:52 p.m. A 38-year-old woman allegedly shoplifted clothing from Kohl’s.

September 18

3:26 p.m. Police stopped a couple panhandling in a Honda Element at the GetGo. The 37-year-old driver was cited for driving on a suspended license.

8:46 p.m. A Graystone resident reported that someone was pounding on her door with a baseball bat while her children were home alone. The caller said she had recently done business with the suspects, a couple who allegedly paid her $10,000 to find them a home. Police discovered that the caller had allegedly used a stolen identity, swindled the couple and was actually hiding upstairs in the house.

September 19

1:48 p.m. A 19-year-old driver was cited for marijuana possession after a traffic stop on Hill Road.

2:40 p.m. Police arrested a 35-year-old man on Columbus Street on a Franklin County warrant after a family member expressed concern for his wife and child.

7:25 p.m. A 14-year-old skateboarder was struck by a Chevrolet Bolt after weaving through traffic on Hill Road. The boy suffered minor injuries, but his skateboard snapped in two. An officer gave him a ride home.

September 20

6:29 p.m. A Honda Pilot missed the turn from Columbus Street onto Violet Drive and drove 370 feet across several lawns before stopping near Lorraine Boulevard. The 42-year-old driver declined the field sobriety and blood-alcohol tests.

September 21

12:16 a.m. A DoorDash driver reportedly cut in line at the Steak ’n Shake drive-thru and became belligerent toward staff.

3:33 p.m. A Genesis GV80 veered left of center on Hill Road and struck a Toyota Corolla at Courtright Drive, then fled the scene. Officers found the 41-year-old driver in a nearby parking lot. He allegedly admitted to drinking, saying he was at “a two” on a scale of one to ten for drunkenness. He declined the field sobriety and blood-alcohol tests.
