Pickerington Police April 27-May 9, 2025

April 27

9:25 p.m. A 17-year-old boy told officers that he honked the horn of his Honda Civic after the Tesla Model Y in front of him on Lorraine Drive did not move. He reported that the Tesla’s driver exited his vehicle and threatened to “blow (his) face off” with a gun.

The 41-year-old Tesla driver told police that the Civic driver pulled up behind him, honked the horn, and called him a derogatory slur. He claimed that when he approached the other driver, the teen threatened to run him over. At that point, he unholstered his handgun and held it at his side but stated that he never pointed it or made verbal threats.

April 28

1:32 a.m. An officer attempted to pull over a Toyota Camry after allegedly watching it weave between lanes on Hill Road near Birchwood Drive. The vehicle did not stop until it reached the Turnberry Apartments. The 34-year-old driver allegedly told the officer he had drunk one Modelo. After a field sobriety test, he was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. At the police station, he reportedly blew a .179 BAC. (The legal limit in Ohio is .08.)

8:47 a.m. The manager of BP asked police to issue a No Trespass order to a 33-year-old man who visits the store daily to refill his coffee. Allegedly, he routinely insults the staff when they insist that he pays $1.00, believing the refill should be free.

2:45 p.m. The Kohl’s Loss Prevention Officer reported that on April 24, a man and woman were captured on surveillance stashing apparel valued at $913.99 into a bag and exiting through an emergency door. They fled in a blue Chevrolet Trailblazer. The same suspects had allegedly attempted to shoplift from the Olentangy Kohl’s earlier that day.

On April 27, the female suspect returned to the Pickerington Kohl’s wearing one of the stolen outfits. Footage reportedly shows her filling a cart with merchandise and again exiting through an emergency door. The blue Chevy pulled up, the stolen items were loaded, and they drove off. The value of the stolen merchandise that day totaled $1,211.92.

7:04 p.m. Three girls allegedly filled bags with snacks and left Sheetz without paying. Officers caught up with them in the Sycamore Creek neighborhood. When their parents arrived, the girls reportedly explained that they had no money and thought they could get away with it.


April 30

12:25 p.m. A resident of the Brookwood Apartments told police that all four tires had been stolen from her Toyota Corolla overnight.

4:48 p.m. A student reported that his Chromebook was stolen from Pickerington High School Central.


May 1

6:54 p.m. A 13-year-old boy was allegedly attacked by a neighbor’s dog in Preston Trails. The pit bull/labrador mix reportedly pulled free from its leash, ran across the street, and bit the boy on the back. He was taken to a hospital and treated for lacerations and puncture wounds.


May 2

1:16 p.m. Police arrested a 40-year-old woman at her home in Pickerington Hills on a warrant out of Pickaway County.


May 3

8:40 p.m. Kohl’s Loss Prevention notified police that a couple had just stolen merchandise and disappeared behind the store. When officers arrived, the woman was gone, but the 32-year-old man was spotted running toward a black Chevrolet SUV parked behind Roosters. He attempted to flee again but tripped and landed on his stomach.

The value of merchandise allegedly stolen by the man totaled $1,713.06, while his unknown accomplice reportedly took items worth $296.16. The same Chevrolet was involved in a theft from another Kohl’s location the previous day.

On May 5, the suspect allegedly returned to the store with another man and stole merchandise valued at $177.72.


May 5

10:20 a.m. Surveillance video from a Pickerington High School Central stairwell allegedly shows a 16-year-old boy repeatedly punching his girlfriend in the head and forcefully grabbing her by the neck.

11:35 a.m. Police issued a 32-year-old woman a No Trespass Order after she was suspected of shoplifting from Kohl’s.

11:43 a.m. A German Shepherd escaped from a home in Fox Glen West and attacked a pit bull being walked on a leash. A bystander intervened to separate the dogs but was bitten on the hand by the shepherd.

1:36 p.m. The Kohl’s Loss Prevention Officer reported that on April 29, a 25-year-old man used wire cutters to shoplift fragrance bottles from a display.

 

3:10 p.m. A Hyundai Elantra driven by a 17-year-old girl rear-ended a bus after school at Pickerington High School Central. No injuries were reported.

6:12 p.m. Pickerington Police arrested a 21-year-old man at his home in the George’s Creek neighborhood on a felony warrant out of Franklin County.

7:38 p.m. A gray Ford Mustang allegedly hit a mailbox on Hill Road near Learning Never Ends and fled the scene.

8:37 p.m. Circle K reported that on May 1, a young man stole a pack of Extra Spearmint gum, a package of Zebra Cakes, and a Kind Bar. Later that same day, surveillance cameras recorded a different young man stealing a bag of Nerds and four cans of Arizona Iced Tea.

10:53 p.m. A Toyota RAV4 ran a red light on Hill Road near the interstate and struck a Honda Accord that was turning left onto the westbound on-ramp. The 19-year-old RAV4 driver was cited for failure to obey traffic control devices. The Honda had a false license plate.


May 6

10:42 a.m. Two girls allegedly stole Polar Pops and chocolate pastries from Circle K.

10:50 a.m. A man claiming to be Tyler Perry contacted a 70-year-old Pickerington woman, professed love, and proposed marriage. He asked her to purchase gift cards for him. The amounts began small but escalated to thousands of dollars. She eventually realized the scam, stopped sending money, and blocked his number.

She was also contacted by someone claiming to represent an assisted living facility where she had briefly stayed. The caller claimed she owed money and that the best way to pay was with Apple gift cards. Her niece called the facility, which confirmed that they do not accept such payments and had not collected any money.

11:56 a.m. A Ford F-150 rear-ended a Ford Edge on westbound Refugee Road at the Stonecreek Drive South traffic light, pushing the Edge into a Dodge Durango. The 51-year-old woman driving the F-150 was cited; her insurance had expired. The driver of the Durango had neither insurance nor a valid license.

8:57 p.m. A man called police to report that another shopper at Speedway had threatened him with a gun. When officers arrived, the caller had already left, but they located the 18-year-old suspect and searched him for a weapon. None was found.

May 7

8:59 p.m. As three brothers walked through the parking lot of the Hill Road Kroger, a gray Nissan pulled up beside them. A teenage girl reportedly exited the vehicle and began attacking the youngest boy (13 years old). When his brothers attempted to intervene, the Nissan’s doors opened and four young men joined the melee.
After allegedly beating the brothers bloody, the group fled the scene with a gym bag ripped from the back of the oldest brother (19 years old). They reportedly threatened to return with a gun.
The brothers told police they did not know their attackers, but believed the girl may have been a student at Pickerington High School North. After reviewing surveillance footage, officers recognized a couple of the suspects from previous service calls.

May 9

2:34 p.m. A 47-year-old woman allegedly told police she left Kohl’s without paying for the merchandise in her cart because she wanted the items but did not have enough money.

4:05 p.m. Emergency crews responded to a possible overdose at a home in Shadow Oaks. The woman who called 911 to assist her housemate was arrested on a warrant out of Fairfield County.

6:42 p.m. When an officer attempted to stop a Hyundai in the parking lot of Kohl’s, a suspected shoplifter allegedly fled the scene, running a red light at Postage Road and turning right onto Hill Road. At the next light, the vehicle reportedly cut across all five lanes of traffic to turn left onto Stonecreek Drive South. Fearing the pursuit could endanger bystanders, the officer disengaged.
As he began to relay his status to dispatch, the Hyundai re-entered the intersection and came to a stop in the middle of Hill Road.
The 25-year-old woman behind the wheel had a suspended license, and her car did not have a license plate. The total value of the allegedly stolen merchandise was $105.
