Pickerington Online – Who We Are

Pickerington Online staff & interns promoting Visit Fairfield County’s Trail of Scarecrows at the Pickerington Lions Labor Day Parade.

Pickerington Online is a local, family-owned news source serving residents of Violet Township and throughout south-central Ohio. Founded in 2020 by journalist Rachel Scofield, our mission is two-fold: to highlight the good people and positive events in our community, and to provide fair, accurate, and unbiased coverage of local government.

Though our staff is small and largely supported by dedicated freelance writers and volunteer columnists, every article is carefully researched and fact-checked. Our audience continues to grow, with more than 35,000 monthly website views. For readers who prefer a printed format, we also publish a magazine edition available through subscriptions, local libraries, and area businesses.

We are proud members of the Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce and the Pickerington Village Association. Our staff is deeply rooted in the community and actively volunteers with local organizations including the Pickerington Lions Club, Pickerington-Violet Historical Society, Visit Fairfield County, Fairy Tales and Tiny Tails, Scouts BSA, Rise Up Arts Alliance, and COSI, as well as supporting local environmental initiatives.

At its heart, Pickerington Online exists to inform, connect, and celebrate our community through trustworthy journalism and a spirit of informative optimism.
