Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks (Metro Parks) is excited to announce the inaugural Bark Bash, set to take place on Saturday, August 24 at Prairie Oaks Metro Park. This fun-filled event promises a day of canine-centric activities and entertainment for dog lovers and their four-legged friends.
Bark Bash will be held at the Darby Bend Lakes area of Prairie Oaks Metro Park from 10 am to 4 pm on August 24 and will feature canine vendors dedicated to all your dog’s needs, canine rescue organizations, humane societies, food vendors, and more! Metro Parks Outdoor Adventure will be hosting stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking for humans and their pups, and owners can customize and tie-dye a bandana for their companion with Friends of Metro Parks. There will be trails for walks, a lake for dogs to swim in, and an ice castle to cool off in.
“We are excited to announce the inaugural Bark Bash'” stated Executive Director Tim Moloney. “We were sad to hear WAG! Fest was cancelled and knew the dogs and people of Franklin County would miss the fun. By providing an alternative event, it allows us to build upon the success of our previous events while embracing a fresh approach that aligns more closely with our mission to provide memorable experiences for our community and their canine companions.”
Admission to Bark Bash is free, and all dogs must be on a leash unless in specified off-leash areas. Attendees are encouraged to bring water and waste bags to ensure a clean and safe environment for all.
Vendors are encouraged to email specialevents@metroparks.net if they would like to participate at the event. More information about this event can be found at metroparks.net/events/.
