Pickerington Public Library has approved a new employee contract that balances fair compensation for staff with the library’s ongoing responsibility to use taxpayer funds efficiently. The agreement ensures that public resources remain focused on delivering high-quality library services while preventing excessive financial commitments that could impact the community.

Throughout the negotiation process, the library worked diligently to protect taxpayer interests, maintain responsible financial stewardship, and reinforce staff accountability. The approved contract upholds expectations for performance and service standards, ensuring that employees remain dedicated to the library’s mission of serving the community.

“This agreement reflects our responsibility to both our staff and the taxpayers who support our library,” said Tony Howard, Director of Pickerington Public Library. “We have taken a thoughtful approach to ensure fair and sustainable policies while maintaining high standards of service and accountability.”

Key highlights of the contract include:

  • Competitive Compensation: Up to a 10.5% pay increase over three years.
  • Longevity Recognition: Employees receive an additional $0.15 per hour for each year of service.
  • Expanded Leave Benefits: Introduction of spouse and child medical leave to support employees’ family needs.
  • Staff Accountability:
    • Merit-Based Raises: The majority of the money for annual raises are tied to performance, as evaluated through the library’s annual performance assessments.
    • Attendance Standards: The library retains full authority over attendance expectations, ensuring continued reliability in service to the community.

The Pickerington Public Library Board of Trustees and leadership team remain committed to providing a strong and sustainable work environment while ensuring taxpayer funds are used effectively to support community services.
