Shakespeare enthusiasts and theatre lovers alike are urged to grab their tickets for last weekend of Pickerington Community Theatre’s (PCT) Much Ado About Nothing. The vibrant comedy has captivated audiences with its wit, humor, and timeless exploration of love and deception.

Directed by Andrew Weibel, the play offers a refreshing take on one of Shakespeare’s most beloved works. The story, which is set in Sicily, follows the engagement of Claudio (Andrew Conway) and Hero (Lindsey Capritta) whose happiness is threatened by the villainous Don John (Freddie Schindler). At Hero’s side through the joy and heartbreak is her cousin, Beatrice (Amanda Khosraviani).

Despite Beatrice’s disdain for marriage, her friends and family conspire to set her up with Claudio’s best friend Benedick (Mike Doyle) – a man with whom she endlessly bickers.

Weibel describes Much Ado About Nothing as the foundation of all modern romantic comedies.

“You root for the good guys and hate the guy who is obviously bad,” Weibel said. “The plot is clear, and it has a lot of good parts for a broad cast.”

The final performances are scheduled for this weekend at the Violet Township Community Theater located in the Wigwam Event Center (10190 Blacklick-Eastern Road). Friday, October 11 the show begins at 8 pm. Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13 both feature 2 pm matinees.

Tickets cost $19 for adults and $17 for children (12 and younger) and seniors (55 and older). They may be purchased online at pickeringtoncommunitytheatre.org or at the theatre before each show.

The next show for PCT will be Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, the weekends of December 6 and 15. This stage interpretation of the campy cult film will be fun for the whole family.
