The folks from both Coyote Run and the Hague Nature Preserve need help this weekend planting trees. As part of their combined missions to reforest portions of Violet Township, volunteers have had a busy fall gathering and sowing acorns. For a final push, help is needed to plant 500 saplings before Thanksgiving.
There will be opportunities to help on both Saturday, November 23 at 9 am and Sunday, November 24 at 9 am. Depending on how many get planted, there may be a need for additional shifts on Monday and Tuesday next week.
“Folks can show up for an hour or all day,” said organizer David Hague. “Volunteers should dress for the weather in good footwear and work gloves. If they have a shovel, that would be good; otherwise, we have some to use. Volunteers will be helping move trees to pre-dug holes and carefully plant them.”
The trees will mostly be planted along the west side of Pickerington Road, so folks should meet at the white and green barn just off 8960 Hill Rd South. Workers should be at least 16 years old.
If you’re interested in helping, please indicate on the Facebook Event Page or email Rachel Scofield at editor@pickeringtononline.com.
