Fisher Catholic Quiz Team Advances to State Competition

LANCASTER, Ohio – The Fisher Catholic High School Quiz Team has punched its ticket to the state competition. After an outstanding performance at the Ohio Academic Competition (OAC) Regionals on April 12, the team secured a second-place finish, placing them among the top 12 quiz teams in the state of Ohio.

The top two teams from each OAC region advance to the state tournament, which brings together the best and brightest students from across the state in a fast-paced academic challenge. Fisher Catholic High School has a proud history in the competition, including state titles in 2004 and 2006 and several runner-up finishes, most recently in 2017.

Representing Fisher Catholic High School are team members Brody Imes (junior), Ziynat Sodikov (sophomore), Colin Michaelis (senior), Luke Ohwofahworaye (senior), and Eve Ohwofahworaye (sophomore). The team is coached by Lynn Stevenson and Mike Sedlack.

“The hard work, quick thinking, and team chemistry these students have demonstrated is truly remarkable,” said Dr. Sally Lozada, principal of Fisher Catholic High School. “We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and look forward to watching them represent our school at the state level.”

The Ohio Academic Competition features high school teams from across the state competing in quiz bowl-style matches. Students answer questions from a variety of subjects, including literature, science, math, history, and current events. The Fisher Catholic community will show its support as the quiz team competes in the state tournament on May 3 at Olentangy Berlin High School.
