Commissioner Fix receiving the 2025 Regional Leadership Award

LANCASTER, OH — Fairfield County and its Comprehensive Plan have been recognized with two reputable awards celebrating the County’s leadership in planning, community development, and regional collaboration.

Planning NEXT, the entity that helped develop Fairfield County’s Comprehensive Plan, received the Honor Award from the American Planning Association’s Small Town and Rural (STaR) Division for its innovative plan development. The plan reflects a collaborative and forward-thinking approach to land use, infrastructure, economic development, and quality of life, shaped through extensive community input.

In addition, Fairfield County Commissioner Jeff Fix was honored with the 2025 Regional Leadership Award from the Mid-Ohio
Regional Planning Commission (MORPC). This award recognizes Commissioner Fix’s remarkable efforts in driving forward regional initiatives, fostering intergovernmental partnerships, and championing sustainable growth throughout Central Ohio.

“These awards reflect years of thoughtful planning and strong partnerships,” said Commissioner Fix. “Fairfield County remains committed to managing growth in a way that honors our community’s character and ensures that our region remains a great place to live, work, and play.”

The Comprehensive Plan, now guiding development across Fairfield County, emphasizes responsible growth and future-focused planning, ensuring that both rural communities and urban centers thrive. Commissioner Fix’s leadership has been instrumental in promoting that vision and collaborating with regional partners to bring it to life.

Fairfield County extends its appreciation to Planning NEXT and all community members who contributed to
these achievements.
