Investigate the nighttime world – hunting for caterpillars, observing moths, plus calling for owls.

What to Expect

A sheet will be set up with a special light to attract moths for observation.  We will set out on short hikes to search with UV flashlights for caterpillars.  The terrain will be uneven.  Toward the end of the program, we will attempt to call in an owl.

Where to Meet

Meet in the open picnic shelter toward the back of the park.

What to Bring

Wear comfortable shoes. The trail could be muddy, so select your footwear to match weather conditions. We suggest you bring a flashlight, drinking water, and insect repellent.

Pets

Although pets are welcome at Smeck Park, we ask that you not bring pets to this program.
