GROVEPORT, Ohio [April 22, 2025] – Eastland Career Center has been officially recognized as a Purple Star School by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce for the Class of 2025. This prestigious designation honors schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military.

The Purple Star Award is given to schools that meet rigorous criteria established by Ohio’s Purple Star Advisory Board. Eastland Career Center demonstrates a strong and ongoing dedication to supporting the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of military-connected youth, especially during times of transition.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized as a Purple Star school,” said Eastland Career Center principal Joseph Gates. “At Eastland Career Center, we strive to ensure that all of our students are supported in all of their pursuits, including those from military families. We appreciate our students and families who make sacrifices in service to this country and support those who are or will enlist in any branch of the U.S. military.”

The Purple Star designation is valid for three years, and Eastland Career Center will be eligible to renew its status in the fall of 2027 for the Class of 2028. In the meantime, the school will proudly display the Purple Star logo on its website and campus, symbolizing its continued support for military families.

Eastland Career Center was one of 367 schools to receive the designation this year, 115 of which are first-time awardees, while the remaining 252 are renewals.
