Columbus, April 17, 2025 – Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks (Metro Parks) invites the community to celebrate Earth Day with family-friendly events to promote conservation and the beauty of our local natural resources. These events will occur at various Metro Parks and provide an opportunity to learn, explore, and give back to the environment.

Event highlights include:
–Garlic Mustard Removal – April 18, 6 pm, Blacklick Woods Metro Park: Set off on an adventure to improve Blacklick Woods’ habitat! Help staff remove garlic mustard—bring gardening gloves.
-Earth Day Extravaganza – April 22, 3-5 pm, Homestead Metro Park: Celebrate Earth Day with us by making some fun crafts to help celebrate the Earth! There will be kid-friendly and adult-friendly crafts at Lakeside Pavilion, rain or shine.
-Earth Day Trot – April 22, 5:30 pm, Walnut Woods Metro Park: Join Metro Parks Outdoor Adventure for a 2-mile, fast-paced hike through the Tall Pines section of Walnut Woods. This hike is dog-friendly!
-Earth Day Upcycling – April 22, 2-7 pm, Sharon Woods Metro Park: Stop by the Schrock Lake Picnic Shelter to learn about upcycling. While supplies last, you can make your reusable shopping bag.
-Ohio Native Plants – April 23, 4-6 pm, Glacier Ridge Metro Park: Learn about the importance of native plants, identifying invasive plants, and even take home some natives to help your house blossom! This program is geared for ages 12 and up and meets at the shelter house.
-Earth Day Tree Planting – April 24, 4-6 pm, Quarry Trails Metro Parks: Plant a tree at Quarry Trails for Earth Day. Meet at the mountain bike area using the entrance at 2600 Dublin Road.

“We’re excited to celebrate Earth Day with our community and continue to work to preserve the natural beauty of our parks,” said Kevin Kasnyik, Metro Parks’ Natural Resource Manager. “These events are a perfect opportunity for families, friends, and individuals to get involved in protecting our environment.”
